Summary: Rei is getting a surprise birthday party!

Helios had done all he could to make sure Rei was out long enough from the shrine to setup for what was indeed her birthday. With some help from her friends and close acquaintances Helios had decorated the shrine in some lights and lanterns for the occasion. It was nothing too outrageous because he knew Rei was a more subtle person, so the decorations are few but meaningful.

Birthdays are good for starting fresh, and spring is a time for letting go of the past and starting anew. The lanterns symbolize that but also help with the festivities. Even if its a small affair Helios puts a lot of hard work into it because of how helpful Rei has been these past few weeks. So to help ease out of the terrible feelings since the draft and to celebrate the birthday of a good friend Helios will invite whoever is close to the young woman.


((ooc; For the sake of not hurting my hands trying to juggle both a post and a log I'm just going to handwave Helios putting up the announcement over the journals to help set things up for Rei's party. If you're character is a close acquaintance/friend of Rei's they're more than welcome to stop by!))

[When he approaches, Rei can't help but smile.]

Thank you, Tsuzuki-san. I'm glad you could come.

[She offers him a plate with a bit of cake on it, remembering his fondness for sweets.]

[Cake. hearts; He gladly accepts it, his wings fluffing up happily.]

....And I'm really sorry about how Hisoka acted earlier.

I knew you wouldn't.

[She shakes her head]

It's nothing you need to apologize for. Hisoka-san was rude, but you were not. Though I want to know how he knew about my secret.

[idealism]

[He takes a bite, since he can't resist. It's cake, after all. If anyone pays attention, they'll see how his eyes brightens when it becomes obvious that he likes it.]

Hisoka has a gift. It's not something he's very happy about, but he can feel what others feel.

[That's the only thing he can say. He hadn't expected Hisoka to be so hostile to her, so the whole situation just threw him for a loop.]

Something must've happened before he went to see you. He's never like that.

[faithfulflame]

That still shouldn't have happened. But what's done is done.

[She shrugs and gives Tsuzuki a worn look]

I've never spoken to him before, and I don't think any of my friends knows him either. Maybe he was jealous, because of me?

[idealism]

I'll have a talk with him. You didn't deserve to be talked to like that.

[Imagining Hisoka as jealous just doesn't make sense to him. Tsuzuki's cluelessness is easy to read on his face.]

...Maybe? Maybe he's threatened because he's not used to meeting other psychics.

But...how would he have known? I've never spoken to him and none of my other friends know him.

[idealism]

...You've never met an empath before?

[faithfulflame]

No, I haven't. I'm rather unusual in my world, Hisoka-san is the first that I'm aware of.

[idealism]

They're rare in my world, too. Maybe that's why he's the way he is.

[faithfulflame]

I...suppose. How do you deal with him? It's plain you care a lot about him.

And...you never did answer my question the other day. Is he the person that hurt you?

[idealism]

As I said, he's usually not like that. He usually listens.

[....Tsuzuki considers lying. He remembers how it was back home, how frowned upon it was. Only perverts likes other guys. But despite the self loathing, he shrugs with one shoulder, as if to say 'yes'.]

I shouldn't have said anything back then. I was upset.

[faithfulflame]

[Only Rei's also a psychic. She has a general idea of what's going on already, too. That twinge of self-loathing she's mirrored more than once.]

It's alright, Tsuzuki-san. I...like girls. You don't have to feel bad about that, not with me.

[idealism]

[A flicker of hope brightens his expression. If Rei is someone who liked others the same way he does, could it really be as wrong as he had been led to believe? Rei isn't a bad person, after all.]

[Tsuzuki can't help but feel tentatively hopeful. With just a few words, Rei manages to erase a lot of his own self-loathing. He can't help but adore her for that.]

Really? I had no idea. When did you find out?
