Summary: Rei is getting a surprise birthday party!

Helios had done all he could to make sure Rei was out long enough from the shrine to setup for what was indeed her birthday. With some help from her friends and close acquaintances Helios had decorated the shrine in some lights and lanterns for the occasion. It was nothing too outrageous because he knew Rei was a more subtle person, so the decorations are few but meaningful.

Birthdays are good for starting fresh, and spring is a time for letting go of the past and starting anew. The lanterns symbolize that but also help with the festivities. Even if its a small affair Helios puts a lot of hard work into it because of how helpful Rei has been these past few weeks. So to help ease out of the terrible feelings since the draft and to celebrate the birthday of a good friend Helios will invite whoever is close to the young woman.

((ooc; For the sake of not hurting my hands trying to juggle both a post and a log I'm just going to handwave Helios putting up the announcement over the journals to help set things up for Rei's party. If you're character is a close acquaintance/friend of Rei's they're more than welcome to stop by!))

[ Helios' eyes widen at those words. This is the first time she's ever had a surprise party? It almost sounds too outrageous to believe but then again Rei was something of a reserved girl. Still it makes him frown ever so slightly. ]

R-Really? Well I hope that it's been a very good one then. I believe everyone is entitled to having a party for their birthday, including senshi.

[ He smiles brightly at that. Especially sailor senshi. After all the hard work they must go through and face. ]

[Rei gives him a quiet, grateful little smile. Friends were not a thing she had in spades at home, but here she did. It made going through life here bearable.]

It's been perfect. Thank you.

[She can't really resist, sorry Helios. You're getting a hug.]

Everyone deserves a perfect day or two every now and then.

[ He gives Rei a warming happy smile as he looks through the small gathering of people. But he is almost taken aback when Rei hugs him so unexpectedly at that. ]

There's no need to thank me. I'm just glad I could help with this and bring a little of happiness to you today. [ He returns the hug with as much care and kindness as possible. Rei was someone close to him and the fact that he could bring such a smile and joy to her was more than enough, no thanks were really needed. ]

[She doesn't immediately let go, either, a sign of how much things have really changed with her.]

That's why I'm thanking you. Because I am happy. You've been a good friend. One of the best I could ask for.

[ Helios doesn't mind either, which might show how much he's really changed as well. The hug is unexpected but he hardly sees the need to end it quickly. ]

I'm glad that you're happy and that I could do this for you. But you hardly need to thank me. This is what friends do, isn't it?

I haven't had many friends, Helios.

[She finally lets go, gratefully looking at him still]

I-I can understand how you must feel. I didn't have many friends before I came here either.

[ He gives Rei encouraging smile. It's warm and full of understanding and acknowledgment. ]

Sometimes it's surprising to see what people will do for you here. I was certainly surprised when someone actually set up my own birthday. So I definitely understand where you're coming from.

Well you certainly deserve it, you work so hard for everyone.

[She dips her head, blushing slightly at all the compliments. It's not that she doesn't believe them, just...she's not used to hearing them.]

Ah, well, I just think everyone deserves to-to have a nice birthday celebration you know? All that hardwork is well worth it in the end.

[ Especially since Rei seems to utterly happy and peaceful this day. He can't say he minds the hard work at all. ]

I...yes, that's very true. I appreciate it, Helios. I really do.

[Really she should've known think that way. He was such a nice man, after all.]

As long as you're happy Rei, that's really all the gratitude I need.

[ He smiles and motions her to look at the phoenix cake resting on the center back table. The frosting actually looks like it's real fire that undulates and flickers in the light of the shrine. ]

It's one of the most important dates of the year for everyone, including yourself! So, well, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

My birthday's nothing special. But thank you.

[And she gasps at the cake. It looks amazing. Really. And she can't help but almost squeak in delight and hug Helios]

Ah you're quite welcome, Rei. I-I was going to make it fly but...that might have been a bit much. [ he smiles and chuckles as he looks at the cake. ]
