Summary: Rei is getting a surprise birthday party!

Helios had done all he could to make sure Rei was out long enough from the shrine to setup for what was indeed her birthday. With some help from her friends and close acquaintances Helios had decorated the shrine in some lights and lanterns for the occasion. It was nothing too outrageous because he knew Rei was a more subtle person, so the decorations are few but meaningful.

Birthdays are good for starting fresh, and spring is a time for letting go of the past and starting anew. The lanterns symbolize that but also help with the festivities. Even if its a small affair Helios puts a lot of hard work into it because of how helpful Rei has been these past few weeks. So to help ease out of the terrible feelings since the draft and to celebrate the birthday of a good friend Helios will invite whoever is close to the young woman.


((ooc; For the sake of not hurting my hands trying to juggle both a post and a log I'm just going to handwave Helios putting up the announcement over the journals to help set things up for Rei's party. If you're character is a close acquaintance/friend of Rei's they're more than welcome to stop by!))

Yeah? I was kind of a mess over the draft so it's not really surprising.

Before that too, Max. I remember what we talked about before we left, and after Valentine's.

You just keep seeing me in a near perpetual state of panic unfortunately. I swear I'm normally more together.

[She adjusts herself, looking up at him]

You see me in the same sorts of situations. I'm not usually so distressed either.

Let's hope we get a little time to recover then and talk while not suffering the crazy of Luceti.

[faithfulflame]

Yes. That would be nice. Like this.

[She takes another sip and her arm finds it's way around his shoulder as well.]

Well, yeah, just like this. [He grins at the idea.]

[With a little laugh she raised her glass and drained the remaining wine]

Quiet, happy times without any imminent danger.

...we really need to stop talking like this now before fate decides to hit us with a sledgehammer.

We do.

[She's pretty content to just sit there, really. Just watching people around the party, smiling contentedly. Though, she does not manage to conceal a blush when she sees Kari, at least.]

[abjurer]

[The blush does not go unnoticed and Max follows her gaze to the girl she's looking at. He smiles a little.]

So... do me and Helios have to turn the tables on you sometime soon?

[faithfulflame]

N-no. I don't think that would be a good idea. She doesn't...like men very much.

[And...that would just be embarrassing and she doesn't even know if the girl likes her...]

But...that...she...[She's very pretty...but Rei trails off]

I wouldn't be the one locked in with her.

[He keeps his tone light and teasing, something gentle.]

She's cute. She must be a pretty cool person if you like her.

[faithfulflame]

No...I suppose not.

[She blushes even more brightly]

S-she's very cute. And a really f-fun person, yes.

[abjurer]

You should go for food with her. Just a friendly thing, I mean. That's always a nice way to start things out.

[Because he is so much better at this when it isn't him or at least, isn't him madly in love.]

Well, we've done that a few times. I've even cooked for her.

[That, at least, she does know]

Sorry, I'll stop. I mean, if there is anything I can do...

Not...at the moment. But maybe a little more to drink?

[She gives him a smile, pointedly looking away from Kari. Staring was bad.]

[He picks up the bottle again and pours them both another glass.]
