From under her little raincloud, Saori peers at the man talking to her. He...stopped to talk to her? Really? Really? He noticed her? Her eyes flutter nervously as she looks from side to side, and realizing there was nobody else around, she points at herself and mumbles...

"M-m-me?"

[All the days in one..What? we cna swing that. They have multi showings, right?

Okay, that's cute, and sweet. Annnnd...she's getting wet.

So he does the gentlemanly thing and takes off the shirt that was barely on to begin with and offers it to her with a smile.

"Yeah. You look like you could use this. To, you know, cover your head or something."

[Action] They do! God this is the most moe thing ever!

She blushes brilliantly when he begins to take off his shirt, turning her head away modestly. A handsome man like that? Giving her his s-shirt? No way, that couldn't happen! But...but it was. How was she supposed to react? Why was he being nice to a worm like her? God or not, she was just...nothing special. Certainly not pretty enough for him, no. She wasn't even worthy of the boyfriend she did have.

But not accepting the shirt would be really, really rude. So she takes it with a fertive glance at his chest, which is now getting soaked too.

"I...I um...thank you. Are you s-sure? It's okay...really...I d-don't mind."

Moe and air for brains. Yep, sounds right for the genres involved

He grins, shaking his head. Water is now artfully dripping down his chest, outlining the curve of muscles as the little droplets head for his navel.

"There's no reason for a pretty lady like you to be getting soaked. Please, take it."

[windandrain]

She can't help but turn even more pink at that display. Derek, please...stop you're embarrassing her.

"O-okay..."

She takes it and puts it on over her head like he suggested, trying to hide her face behind a dangling sleeve and not being very successful. Clearly she has no idea how to handle this stuff. And it's making her awkward. More than usual. Oh...oh, why did this have to happen?

Oh...and she was being rude again. What kind of worm was she, that she'd be rude to someone so nice.

"T-thank you...you are very kind," she adds hastily.

[But my beautiful and gracious Lady, how could a mere mortal like himself think to be so cruel and arrogant as to wish to stop the rain from falling down?

He smiles again (or maybe smiles more, I'm losing track, here).]

It's my pleasure. Although...[He looks up into the rain droplets] Maybe we ought to find you an umbrella instead. Might work out a little better.

[windandrain]

"I...it might, yes. But I don't h-have one."

The incredibly shy rain god can't quite bring herself to look up past his feet to notice the smile, but she nods gratefully. The thought is appreciated, but she might need a bit more encouragement than just that. After all, she's a lowly ant with no real value to beautiful, kind people like those who inhabit this village.

"W-where can I find one? I promise I'll clean and return your shirt...when I do."

Derek is completely oblivious to the whole shy thing, other than to think that Saori must have just broke the cute scale. Nothing could be this cute, right?

"C'mon, I'll help you find one. They usually have a couple in the shops."

[windandrain]

"A-alright," she stammers, taking a tentative step to follow him. Oblivious or not, she's still shy!

"T-thank you."

[rather_be_surfing]

He'll take a few steps forward himself, catching one hand to lead her by.

"It'll be fun. C'mon," and off he goes, gently leading her along.

Yep, pretty girl in hand, life is good.

Even if his shoulder is getting just a touch wet.

[windandrain]

He's touching her? This pitiful wretch isn't worth that much, but she smiles shyly and lets herself be led along behind behind him. She certainly can't let herself walk alongside him or in front. She doesn't deserve that.

"O-okay."

It's all she can manage to say, really.

It's a little strange to have her dragging along behind, but, okay. His whole concentration is on getting to the shops anyway. So that he can help her find that umbrella!

And what do you know; there's a stand of them right inside the shop door.

With a flourish and a grin and using his free hand he grabs one of them, manages to open it one handed, and then presents it to her.

"My Lady, your umbrella."

[windandrain]

She blinks and bows deeply when he hands her the umbrella, offering him back his shirt and bowing twice more. Each time it's a little lower, and faster.

"T-thank you! Y-you are very, very kind to someone of no value. T-thank you!"

He'll sling the sodden shirt around his shoulders for the moment; he'll have to at least wring it out before he can wear it again. He'll...look perplexed though at her gushing.

"...Who told you that? That you have no value?"

[windandrain]

"E-everyone? Why s-should anyone feel otherwise?"

[rather_be_surfing]

"They actually said 'you have no value' to you?" Derek shakes his head, "It can't be everyone; I never said that. Or feel that."

[windandrain]

"T-they don't have to. I...I just know." Saori's eyes waver, though, flickering up to Derek. "Y-you don't?"

[rather_be_surfing]

"No. Maybe you're a little shy, but that's all right. I don't see where that would make you worthless or anything like it."

[windandrain]

"B-but I am. I don't do...anything useful, and I'm just p-plain. Everyone here is...so pretty and kind..." She trails off, unsure of how to go on. Because he's still handsome. And she's still no better than a slug.

[rather_be_surfing]

"I think you're pretty," as if that was the only thing that mattered, right? "And you're sweet. I kinda like being around you, in fact."

[windandrain]

"Ehhhhhhhhh?!" Saori exclaimed. "Y-y-you think that?!?!" A handsome man like Derek? Thought she was pretty? A worm like her?! That didn't compute at all. "W-w-why would you say that?!"

[rather_be_surfing]

"Because you are? Seriously, you are pretty, Saori. Anyone who can't see that is blind."

[windandrain]

"That…how? I am just a worm. A plain, ordinary person with n-nothing pretty about me. A plain nose, ordinary lips a nearly f-flat chest, and plain brown eyes. How am I pretty?" She plainly is stunned by the idea. Maybe she will need convincing…

If this were Disney, this would be about the time Derek would break into a heartfelt song about how beautiful she really was and how the sun rose everyday just to light her path, and how so many young men pined for her grace and beauty to simply be in the same room with her, and oh why can't she see what she really is?

Alas, this is not Disney, and for some reason, they neglected to type cast him into the moody musical loner biker dude with a heart of gold. So.

"Yeah, but your brown eyes are deep, like the shadows of the forest,"

...maybe we can make this work anyway. Herm.

[windandrain]

"Ehhhh?" She quirks her head to one side, a little befuddled. That's...new, and compliments don't add up. "Is-isn't brown boring and plain?"
