[He turns in half to admire the poster.]

Well, that's very humble of you... though to be fair, it is a very artful sketch. I wonder what this man could have done to earn such a bounty.

[Vash reaches up to his hat, tips it down for the briefest of moment, just enough to hide his face and when it's back up there's been a slight change. The mole on his face has switched sides and his hair is shorter now. The voice is nearly the same, yet this time it seems to be filled with just a bit more confidence than before.]

Wonder indeed. For a price on his head that large. It's almost as if he had wiped out an entire city.

[He turns back slightly at that, looking at Vash out of the corner of his eye.]

Now, that would be a feat. But surely not. What could a man hope to gain from such an act?

To wipe the entire mess of the city away would be my guess. Or maybe he's just the type of man who felt like doing that for the fun of it.

[monocledman]

Goodness. That would be a dangerous man indeed. As many problems as our little village may have, I like it best undestroyed. Do you think we have much to fear from this villain?

Oh, yes. More than you can probably imagine. If I had the chance I'd shoot him on sight then stick him down in those tunnels and make sure he could never get out again.

[Causing his other self problems? It's one of his favorite pastimes.]

[That's an interesting thing to say.]

Now, now. There's no need to turn to violence. And one must keep in mind that there has been a marked increase in... lookalikes lately. We wouldn't want to mistake an innocent man for a scoundrel one bullet too late, hm?

[While coming out at will is a bit of a struggle. He has no problem leaving when things start getting a bit painful.]

Perhaps you are right. Although I suppose if it was me, I'd understand taking a bullet to the shoulder by mistake if it was for keeping the village safe. He is a very dangerous man after all.

Although I would hope that the people here would be wise enough not to shoot for the head. After all simply killing him here wouldn't work. He'd just come back and be angry.

[No killing his host body.]

Noted. [But fortunately for the man in the poster, the Pawngolas have never been keen on carrying around firearms.]

But my, you certainly are a citizen devoted to his community. [So ready to do his part to apprehend this madman.] Who are you, my good man? I'd like to remember anyone so selfless.

My name? You can call me Knives.

A pleasure, Knives. [He tips his hat.] I have no name to give in return, but I've been called 'Monocle'.

[He turns and removes the poster from the wall with a smart tug. Another glance and he folds it into quarters for stowing in his inner coat pocket.] I'll keep an eye out for this man of yours.

Yes, good luck. I'm sure you'll run into him soon enough.

[monocledman]

I fear I might. [He moves to exit the alleyway.] Good day, sir. Take care not to run into any more rogue paper edges.

Yeah, thanks. Stop by my apartment later. Community housing four. Floor three. I'll give you one of the bandages I have there.

[After that fascinating conversation, the monocled man goes about his business. Which is the loan shark business, of course. Here, he would normally leave his victims clients be for some time -- fatten the pig and allow the interest to rack up. But for the man in the poster, he makes an exception. The afternoon after their meeting, the monocled man arrives at CH4's third floor. There, he... stops in puzzlement. Did that Knives fellow mention which room he was in?]

[Let's say he might have mentioned he was in room 20 and not that the mun forgot.

Currently it's Vash in control of the body and he has fallen asleep on the couch in the living room. Still dressed in his cowboy duds as he gently snores under that hat.

Will the loan shark knock or let himself right in?]

[monocledman]

[That's right, room 20. He steps up to it and knocks three times, firmly. He has no intention of getting into the wrong sorts with the wrong people. Beyond what's already been done, of course.]

[goldenglasses]

[Vash comes awake and yawns.] I'm coming. [With a yawn he opens the door.] Oh, hey! It's you! Come on in.

[monocledman]

Have I disturbed you? My apologies.

[But he tips his hat and comes on in anyway, giving the apartment a casual glance around.]

I should only be a moment. I trust you know why I'm here?

[goldenglasses]

No, it's alright. I just fell asleep on the couch. I needed to get up anyway. [The room is fairly empty and rather clean. A couch, a chair, and a coffee table that has a few empty liqueur bottles on top of it. Oh and a rather large cross wrapped up in a cloth leaning up against the wall. No art work or anything really personal besides the cross in the room.]

Yeah, the bandage! Hold on, I keep them in the bathroom. I'll go get them.

[monocledman]

Take your time.

[He scrutinizes the wrapped up cross in the meantime. A curious decoration... Though shaped much like a religious cross, its style doesn't look particularly reverent.]

[goldenglasses]

[It stands as tall as a man and it's actually even heavier than it may look and it looks pretty heavy. It sits in clear view so that Vash can see it just about anywhere he sits in the room.

Vash himself isn't gone too long before he's back with a box of bandages.] Here they are. I really had no idea that they were getting scarce around here. [He opens up the box in his hand and pulls out one sheet of four.] Here! Repaid with interest even! [Yes, right now, Vash thinks he's being clever.]

[monocledman]

[Oh, good. That saves him the trouble of asking for the interest that yes, he was eventually going to ask for. He'll take the band-aids with a crooked smile.]

Thank you; they look to be in good order. It's always pleasant to meet an honorable borrower. [And then he gestures to the oversized cross.] If I may ask, what is this? It seems a bit excessive for a simple decoration.

[goldenglasses]

Honorable borrower? It's just a bandage.

[Seems a bit of an extreme title for just a small thing like that. Of course, then his attention is brought back to the cross. He sets the box of bandages down on the coffee table, his face falling sober as he moves towards the cross and puts his hand on top of the cross.]

It belonged to a very dear friend of mine, but he's no longer here.

[Ah, the dearly departed friend. He watches Vash impassively.]

A pastor, by any chance?
