The Cultural Fair!

Who: Everyone's invited!
What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!
Where: All around the town square!
Summary: Here.
Rating: ... who knows?!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

For ideas/reference on how it was handled last time, feel free to look through here! There's no official signup, so go forth!

[Steve notices the improvement with a smile. The ball is fast but not nearly as fast as his reflexes. The bat connects with the ball and it goes soaring through the sky once again in Saori's direction.]
neversurrender: ([PB] a happy atmosphere)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-06-18 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean. I wish I'd gotten more time to get to know him.
fleurdesel: center, sad, serious (This isn't how it should be)

[personal profile] fleurdesel 2013-06-18 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
...I have photos- videos.

[She looks up, smile turning fond.]

It is a terribly sentimental thing, I know, but. I took them when I could. Him talking, training, fussing with Helios' dragons. Lecturing me. Telling stories of his world. If you would like to see them...
neversurrender: (I didn't blow it up I swear)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-06-18 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[He grins and shakes his head.]

There's nothing wrong with being sentimental. He was important to you. And yes, I'd love to see them sometime.
fleurdesel: left, smile, smirk, confused, sarcastic (The punchline is...?)

[personal profile] fleurdesel 2013-06-18 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
He counted you as a friend; I think he would be glad for you to see them. Even if I caught him at the odd undignified moment.
savedtheworld: (cheshiresmile)

[personal profile] savedtheworld 2013-06-18 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [He says with a sly grin and rubs at his chin.] In some ways, things like that've already happened to me. Because Avatar stuff. I just don't know if I'd call myself great.
neversurrender: (laughing)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-06-18 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckled.] It's hard to imagine him having an undignified moment. He always seemed so...together.
fleurdesel: left, laugh, smile, (Some time to laugh)

[personal profile] fleurdesel 2013-06-18 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
He was. It made the undignified moments terribly dignified and all the more hilarious.
abjurer: (Floofy)

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-06-18 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[It takes an effort of will not to start giggling and he's fairly delighted that Jack knows Mornington Crescent. What could be more English, after all?]

Want me to bowl?
neversurrender: (getting back into the world)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-06-18 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Wish I'd been there to see them happen.
fleurdesel: right, smile, smirk, sarcastic (Mhm)

[personal profile] fleurdesel 2013-06-18 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
You were preoccupied and Ben was...private. For all his skill and experience as an envoy or mediator he was happiest when he could be alone with his tea and books and meditate.
faithfulflame: (Rei Thoughtful)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2013-06-18 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
True enough. So you do use magic, then...
niceneighbor: (Curious)

[personal profile] niceneighbor 2013-06-18 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Well he'll just walk right on over and pick up a couple to bring back.]

Too.

[Eat up! He takes a nibble and nods.]
savedtheworld: (guilty)

[personal profile] savedtheworld 2013-06-18 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay, Hinata. I understand. But... [He smiles slightly.] You really think that?
windandrain: (Dreamer)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-06-18 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
[This time she does catch it, though it's with a net of air instead of anything else.]

Don't want to lose the ball do we?

[She takes another pitching stance...this time considering a bit, focusing more on throwing the ball like she might a knife or a dart or a slingstone...]
therewerefifty: (let's try this again)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-06-18 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Did you know Emil before you arrived here?
therewerefifty: (I understand)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-06-18 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
No, I understand. And I thank you. [Her smile is genuinely appreciative, if it's slow to arrive. Makie is still getting used to the vast difference in the way people are so warm in Luceti. ...well, most of them.] Right now, Luceti is very much a... welcoming place, but I know things can't always be pleasant. I would offer the same, although I'm not very good at offering such support.
therewerefifty: (heh)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-06-18 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard about that, though I'm not sure how it came about. [The idea is pretty daunting, to be honest.] Most Japanese I meet seem quite happy with where they've come from, so I assume that... might be a good thing.

[Maybe. She's uncertain. But she'll be long dead before then, so does it really matter?]
complicatedliar: (brat)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-06-18 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Because Loki is very good at what he does. He twitches his foot.]

In a word: no.
neverplaysfair: (Why show us what we can never reach?)

[personal profile] neverplaysfair 2013-06-18 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Many people have different opinions. It's the same as anything else.

But the world moves forward faster than any one country can advance alone. If Japan didn't reach out, we'd be left far behind. That's the nature of things in the time I come from.

At the very least, I'd like to think we still have pride in our history.

[ He gives a small nod towards the shamisen. ]

"No. More like their presence pushed a few things into happening that wouldn't have otherwise."
before_my_darkness: (3 is a Crowd and with it we broke)

[personal profile] before_my_darkness 2013-06-18 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. But I don't really know what I'd do.
