What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

[Jack leans back and holds up his beard for inspection, which is still glue-damp between the backing and the fur but otherwise suitably enormous, shaggy, and a passably realistic shade of mousy brown.] I'll write you a note closer to the actual date. We can meet up for some sort of beverage and discuss details. Is there a traditional venue I should be looking for?

[...Okay he's not sure he followed that. So still leans in, he hangs there in place, his eyes darting from side to side as he tries to process that into some sort of coherent sentence. There's got to be something there... but it's probably some sort of denial. He leans back now, with a momentary thoughtful expression]

Well, no more doubts from me, don't worry.

Oh, that is fetching. It looks like a badger was so taken with you that it's trying to mate with your face. Perfect! [Grin]

For midsummer? Nay, just somewhere we can have bonfires and drunken carousing, really. Out of doors seems best, and just borrow tables from the recreation center perhaps.

[A shame that he didn't understand that. There's so much potential to tease Hinata, as Shino and Kiba know well.

However, she can breathe a little when he leans away from her and he seems to pause a bit.]

But being that as it may, that means I've got an outside shot!

[WINK. And a finger waggle before he turns on his heel to walk ahead of her in the same direction they were walking anyway]

[She takes the moment he is gone to examine him a little closer. He doesn't appear harmful and he is still not giving off any bad intentions. If anything, he appears to be rather sweet and gentle.

When he returns, she smiles softly as she takes the offered treat.]

Thank you very much. [She takes a bite herself and swallows before speaking. A very important distinction, because some of the Konoha nin wouldn't.] Where would you like to go look at things, Totoro-san?

[She returns his smile with a tentative one of her own; however, her voice is strong when she speaks.]

Yes, I do. If we were friends the last time I was here, then there is no reason that cannot still be the case now that I have returned.

Duly noted. [Jack puts down his beard with a smile, picking up his mead again and taking another drink. He could get used to this stuff.] And I'll have to keep the amorous badger safe from Eugene. I'd hate for him to get jealous.

[Loki is highly entertained by wondering just how much mead Jack will down before the alcohol ends up hitting him like a honey-dipped hammer.]

Worse, he might decide he likes you better with the badger. We'd never see your darling chin again.

"Depends on the vamp, actually. But last time I checked we were a little low on those. New Feathers?"

"I was considering one as a housemate, actually. He seems a nice enough fellow, though."

...Somewhere, somehow, a penny just dropped. Because Buffy had been talking to a guy who had been discussing potential housemates. She didn't need to know whether Loki had been one of the responses to make her guess. After all, the man had been rather cagey about not wanting to be served certain beverages.

"Hal," she said -- in the voice of someone just now figuring something out.

[Really, she doesn't understand what the hell he's saying. As he walks ahead, she just stands there trying to figure it out.]

No, I don't think that's something everyone needs to hear.

[Wow, she isn't even following? Well, he keeps a slow pace so she can catch up, but he doesn't stop. That would be lame]

Haaaah, then why don't you tell me about this world of yours, instead?

"Oh do you know him? He seems nice enough, though I haven't met him in person. And we shan't be housemates."

He felt no guilt for spoiling that secret if accidentally. It wasn't as if Hal had become his housemate in the end, and a little trouble was entertaining. Though he didn't expect Buffy to run off and hurt him. She'd been here long enough to understand the uselessness of that sort if thing.

"...We've spoken."

She might have been more alarmed had Hal not expressly asked her not to serve him should he ask for anything beyond the normal realm of beverages. Such a request implied some kind of rehab -- doubly so given he had no sweet clue about Buffy's own stance on the matter. "About bar stuff, though. Not slaying stuff."

"I should think the latter would make for a very awkward conversation." He shrugged.

"Though by the way, if you do happen across someone who needs a housemate, do let me know."

[Totoro takes a slightly bigger bite this time and taps his chin with one claw. What would he like to see?

Hmmm. Communication difficulties aside, he doesn't really know.

So...he lifts his enormous shoulders and shrugs. What would you like to see, Hinata?]

[She blinks and continues forward, still confused but thinking it rude to leave him waiting. Even though he joined her and not the other way around.]

Have you found a booth that you prefer yet, Kida-kun?

[Heh] I'm pretty partial to food they offered at that booth of the elements there.

No, I . . . think I get what you mean, but . . .

[Jack is entirely lost, looking between them, though he at least has the presence of mind to keep searching for answers.]

That's . . . wow. [He looks over Japan uncertainly.] So you're . . . really old, probably.
