What: The Cultural Fair
When: June 5th- 12th - admittedly dates are sort of nebulous - set up could have begun as early as the 5th, but given the event recently, more days could have been taken to do it and for people to involve themselves, so it probably "officially" starts a little later (by the 8th at the very least, though work can go on throughout it) - feel free to use your judgement/have fun!

Notes: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier.

Work probably started for it on the 5th-7/8th for labor purposes, though feel free to use dates to your advantage here! (Even if characters slapdash something at the last minute, it would be fun to see! It would even be encouraged after the crazy from the last event - kind of a way to get back in touch with themselves.)

CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth. (Helios and Ikki made posts in regard to it and there have been art club posters around, so anyone could have noticed those as well!)

I'll leave descriptions up to you all as there isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about their presentations and how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. Just keep in mind that this takes place in the plaza, there shouldn't be an issue with blocking traffic (there may be ropes up to try and keep pathways clear, however!), though it may branch around various points of the square depending on where someone wants a booth located / the number of actual participants. The square will also have a lot of brightly colored signs and decorations indicating what is going on!

I don't think it's embarrassing. Coal's a type of fuel. It's a mineral, an ore, found in the ground. A coal mine's just a way of getting it out. We send people down into mines - caves and tunnels, really, dug in deep - and they find it and send it back up. And then we ship it out.

Yes, indeed. There's a fine line between that - you won't always be jumping, but you have to be flexible. Situations can happen that you may have experienced before... but whether or not you view them in that same way is something to keep in mind as well.

[ How does one describe a rocket without pointing to Zuko's demonstration and going "like that". ]

It helps spaceships move around, and that sort of thing. Rockets make a lot of fire, and it pushes the ship in the opposite direction...

{ She pats herself down to get a pencil and a notebook she had taken to carry on her person. There it is. She takes it out and scribbles out the diagram like he suggested. Matthew will be better at this.

Of course he would be. It takes her longer to double check her math and she looks up, huffing out a strand of hair that had fallen in her face. She is more sure of this answer this time around. }

Is it a case of it taking three minutes instead? { Why yes. She is still looking at this at an angle of it needing math to solve the problem. Even after drawing out the picture like he had done. There was no reason to suspect otherwise. It was pretty innocuous. }

Oh, I see. [That makes sense. They probably exist in Japan, somewhere...she pays little attention to things like that. Or didn't at home, anyway.] Being so far underground sounds very... oppressive.

...I certainly can't disagree with that point. My...friend would say that much of Japan's warriors are too concerned with decorum and tradition to be an effective fighting force for the country. He seeks to change this.

Yeah. You can use it to go between different planets.

[ Or between worlds which have been simplified in the Disney tradition to the point where they are sufficiently abstracted as being planets. But that is slightly too meta. ]

Part of that tradition and decorum is for the enforcement of the castes, isn't it? That perhaps more than anything else is what separates samurai from the ninja. From that perspective, it's understandable why samurai would want to keep it. It ensures their status in society.

Well... I guess, they kind of are, if you don't have rockets. I don't really know of any other way to get from one planet to another.
