lucetilogs2013-06-14 12:09 amWe built this city on rock and roll
Who: Adele LeBlanc, Derek Bliss, gawkers, assistants, and whoever wants to help or mock
What: Building a beach house (not actually on the beach)
When: June 12th - 15th
Where: The Beach
Summary: A house is built, there's a bonfire at night and food provided for those that helped.
Rating: PG-13 for potential language
[After a brief posting the day before on the journal network mentioning the construction project, it's location, and offering a meal in return for work, Adele assists Derek in moving the supplies they've collected since picking the site and in the initial set up. Knowing little to nothing of construction she follows his lead every step of the way, breaking off only to set up water or a quick meal for them in between shifts of planing wood, cutting trim and hammering nails.
It takes time to get it built, but the end of each work day is met with a small or large bonfire, a hot meal, and cool drink.
And at the end there may very well be a house.]

Day 1
Yeah. It's kinda nice, actually. Not too hot yet. As long as it doesn't start raining, it should go pretty fast. How's it going on your end?
Day 1
I am following your directions to the letter, and since you have been kind enough to show me how it is everything should be done, it's going quickly.

'Friends with benefits' worked fine for right now, even if deep down he's pretty sure he's lying to himself on that. Here in Luceti, it was probably best not to get too deeply tied, anyway.
He nods, smiling a little. He'd been worried, honestly, that he wouldn't have been clear enough, or, worse yet, 'dumbed it down' enough to be insulting. That didn't seem to be the case here, though.]
Definitely looking good from here. You're pretty good with a hammer.
[Yep, back to easy teasing. He'll take another sip of water while he contemplates the job done so far.]

[She nudges him with her shoulder, leaning in for a moment before swaying away, light and buoyant and easy. Simply doing without thinking. Of anyone that might lead to trouble in the village, Derek wasn't exactly on the list. This is safe enough, he is safe enough. No expectations made or promises broken. Just a simple enjoyment of one another's company in varying capacities.]
So long as I think it akin to putting a body back together, it is easy enough to understand.

It wasn't as if she hadn't seen every inch of him for various (mostly medical) reasons in the past; between that fact and what had happened during the shift, being reserved about touch now seemed pretty silly.]
Yeah, I guess that fits pretty well. Makes sense. And we've got the worst part taken care of. Now it'll just be filling it in. [He looks up at her for a second before finishing off his glass and standing.]
You have stuff for dinner, or do you want me to work in some fishing?
[He didn't mind either way, but if she wanted fresh fish, it would at least give him the excuse to go into the water and cool down a little later.]

I've set some traps not too terribly far out, but if we want enough for everyone we ought to fish properly before we lose too much light. If you would like to do that I would start the roasting pit.

I'll get that taken care of, then.
[He smiles; one of the few things he truly loved about being in Luceti; he got to be in the water, at the beach, again. Something he'd missed for forever back home.

[A not entirely wicked twist of her lips is partially hidden by the rim of her glass. Good humor and good company and good work and just. A good day. It was hot and she has hit that comfortable weariness that comes from a long day's work but she can still take a moment to look over at the man that's made this possible and tease. To be playful.
She's missed being able to be playful.]

I'd be back in a week, anyway, even if I do drown. In the meantime, try not to burn your fingers; my grasp on Nala isn't always the best.
[He'll stand, stripping off his boots and jeans to reveal the swim trunks underneath and make his way to the water. Better now than later, right? And they were pretty much done for the day anyway.]

[She gives herself leave now to tilt her head slightly as he wanders away, watching. Blatantly watching with a small little grin and a mind full of less than family friendly thoughts.]
