WHO: Any and all friends of Masaomi/anyone who happens to be on the beach! Invitations would’ve gone out via a (handwaved) secret entry or word of mouth.
WHAT: Masaomi’s birthday party, planned by Shikamaru-Gold-Ikki.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 19th.
WHERE: The beach!
SUMMARY: BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH. It’s pretty simple.
RATING: B FOR BIRTHDAY.

So after being reminded about Masaomi’s birthday, Gold came up with a much better idea than Shikamaru’s (lame) sit-down dinner! Therefore welcome to an all-dayish surprise beach birthday party! There are tables for presents and food, there is music (chosen by the boys, not by Ikki), and there is a sand castle city, complete with sandscrapers, which is what Gold put Ikki in charge of. The sand castle city has gotten a little out of hand because of this.

So stop by, wish Masaomi a happy birthday, and HAVE FUN. While there are three topic threads, FEEL FREE AND ENCOURAGED to just throw up your character at the party below that/anywhere, as per always.

Yeah, I've heard that, too. [ And she really, really hopes it's true, considering the way things were when she left. Things would be bad if she was gone for this long back there. Really bad. ]

So they wouldn't even know you were gone. Your friends and family, too.

Yes, I suppose they wouldn't notice. [Which is probably a good thing, in retrospect...but then Cilan smiles a little awkwardly with a hand up in apology, as if just realizing how heavy the conversation suddenly got.] ...Ah, I'm sorry--I never intended for this taste to become quite so serious.

[ She shrugs it off, smiling. ] Hey, don't worry about it. I'm glad you and your team can be together, Cilan.

Oh, thank you Korra. We're glad that the team gets to be together here, too. [His Pokemon nod in agreement--well, Pansage and Crustle do, Stunfisk kind of flaps its fins a little. But at least it seems to be smiling now instead of just staring blankly like it was a moment ago. ^^;;]

I'm still missing part of my team. [ ... ] Uh, of people, not Pokemon.

Do you mean your "probending" team?

['Cause we remember you telling us about them before...or do you mean your friends and family in general?]

Yeah. Mako. [ There's a note of affection in her voice at his name. ] My other teammate - Bolin - is here. Mako is his brother. He's...a good guy.

Ah, I see! He sounds like someone that has an admirable taste... ["Sounds like" because yeah, he did sort of notice the change in tone of her voice at Mako's name, but Cilan's not really the type to blatantly tease her about it... ^^;;]

Yeah, he does. [ She straightens, clearing her throat. ] Anyway - yup. That's my team.

Korra, Mako, and Bolin...so they make up the amazing team that made it all the way to the championship match in your probending tournament? [As he recalls you telling us last time--it's almost a shame that your friend isn't here, then you could start promoting the three of you together as such. Still--] The three of you likely work well together to have gotten so far--it's very impressive!

Yeah, we really do. [ Her grin turns slightly sheepish. ] It wasn't always that way, though. We had to get used to each other at first.

[ And then there was the mess with her and Mako. At least they had pushed past that for the team. ]

Mm, that's understandable. After all, things like teamwork can take a lot more than just a day in order for it's flavors to ripen and develop into a stronger taste. [...If that made any sense to you...]

Uh... [ Yeah, she gets it. Mostly. She's getting used to all the cooking analogies, slowly but surely. ] Was it like that for your team, too? Did you have to adjust and find a good balance?

Of course! It wasn't too difficult when it was just Pansage and I at first, but after adding Crustle and Stunfisk, adjustments had to be made in order to find a good balance. Crustle, for example, actually started as a Dwebble--ah, it's pre-evolved form, and with proper training, it was able to grow and evolve into the Pokemon it is now! As for Stunfisk, it used to have a more aggressive taste towards other people and Pokemon, but since we started working together, it's become a little more friendlier--right?

[This is directed at that mud fish Pokemon, who...just gives him that wide-eyed stare it has. Yep, totally aggressive, this one. But Cilan doesn't seem to notice as it then makes a nodding motion, which he seems to take as a yes.] Plus, there's also finding a balance with their individual abilities and practicing different strategies--that's usually what we do when training together at the Battle Dome here.

[ ...That gives her an idea. ]

Do you train again other Pokemon always? Or would you spar with a person, too?

[Hm?] Normally they train with one another or other Pokemon we know--it's rare to have a person want to spar with a Pokemon themselves. [Unless you're Brycen, who is a martial artist and frequently spars with his Beartic, or Ash who...seems oddly immune to being electrocuted but he probably doesn't count exactly unlike Brycen's case.

...Oh, he thinks he can see where this is going, but Cilan can't help but pretend a little that he hasn't caught on yet.] Why, is there someone you know that's interested in trying to spar with them?

[ She taps her chin, looking ponderous for a moment. ]

Yeah, I can think of someone. She's been looking for lots of different opponents to try her skills against - but I gotta warn you, she's pretty good. Interested?

[Well...on one hand, he technically shouldn't be encouraging people to fight with Pokemon that they're not familiar with. Pokemon can be dangerous if you're not careful, and Cilan would feel really guilty if Korra was injured somehow...

...On the other hand, he would be a liar if he said he hadn't considered the idea of it back in Unova when he was watching Brycen's "Enter the Beartic" film twenty-five times. (That's not an exaggeration, he literally kept track of this.) Plus Korra has her bending skills and appears to be someone similar to Brycen in terms of fighting anyway, so...he manages to keep the teasing, speculative tone when he replies.]

...Provided she was aware of the risks that potentially come with sparring against Pokemon--I don't mean to brag, but mine in particular are strong opponents, after all. We wouldn't want to overwhelm her with such a vigorous taste in skill... [Cilan please...]

[ Korra laughs, looking a bit haughty as she continues to play along. ]

Oh, I don't think she's too worried about being overwhelmed. But she loves a good challenge. I could see if she wants to meet you at the Battle Dome sometime next week.

Oh? In that case, I could probably fit it into my schedule...

[And then Cilan drops the act a little.] Though, I was being serious when I said that there can be risks, particularly if you're too careless...however, I'm sure that it'll be alright, as long as we don't get too carried away with it. [That last bit seems to be directed towards his Pokemon, as if making sure they're aware of that, since they nod in agreement. No worries, we're not gonna do anything too dangerous for this. And then Cilan smiles again.] But yes, sometime next week should be fine for us.

[ She nods, taking on the seriousness of his tone. After facing so many new opponents here, she knows better than to let her big head get the better of her. ]

Don't worry. I'll be careful. And I'll definitely look forward to it.

[Well as long as she's aware, then there's less worry to be had.]

Good! I'll be looking forward to it as well!

[His Pokemon give a nod of agreement--they're highly anticipating this too!]

I should probably go give the birthday boy my regards. But I'll be in touch, okay?
