Who: Anyone who heard the announcement, caught a flier in the plaza, of heard by word of mouth. Everyone's welcome!
What: A rave! Well, "rave." Luceti makes everything a little different.
When: June 21st, nightfall to early morning
Where: the beach near Adele's house
Summary: It's the first day of summer! This calls for bonfires, naturally, but why not spice it up with loud music, flashing lights, drinks, dancing, and a conspicuous lack of curfew?
Rating: PG to PG-13, please move anything steamier to appointmentsor Adele will take the hose to you
Getting all the firewood, food, and drink out to the beach had been, honestly, the hardest part of preparation. Whatever else one might say about running things on magic, it certainly did cut down on the trouble of constructing edifices and machines to run the entertainment side of a party. As it stands, the setup is labour-intensive but otherwise minimal, and there's not much to do by sunset. Escape the house before Max and Zevran, the culture-displaced madmen, can put any more eyeliner on him. Arrive at the beach. Light the bonfires. Make sure the bonfire-cooking-compliant food is set out. Put up a table loaded with bottles, cups, ice, and permanent markers. Thank the resident doctor and quartermaster once more. Plug in the stereo system.
The speakers and light show have been with him since he left his house, in the form of the resident god of mischief, and they confer over sheets of paper with track names and times written on them for a little while just before the start. That's the last of it, and by the time the sky above the mountains is beginning to darken into twilight, the first thumping, trilling strains of dance music begin to echo out across the sand.
It's the shortest night of the year. Best make every second last.
[OOC: Feel free to post your character for mingling, since this entire event is very free-form anyway. For everyone's enjoyment there is a drinks table, food, several bonfires, the ocean (lifeguards not on duty, splash drunkenly at your own risk), and of course a dancing area with lights and music. Music will probably be primarily EDM with a heavy bass line, but occasionally wander into the territories of electro-swing and the like to give even less modern partygoers a chance to show off. The light show as well will stray out of the typical at times, with the expected abstract wheeling and flashing lights giving way to more complicated illusions. Don't be surprised to find yourself and your fellows occasionally dancing in a forest glen or a Rivendell look-alike for a few minutes at a time. Loki is working the tech booth, after all.
The party will go as long as people stay and are enjoying themselves, so have fun and tag around!]

[Loki]
While he spends a significant amount if the evening writhing on the light show, he also often can dance, the illusions on autopilot once he's cast them. The base, by his request, is bone shaking enough that he can dance even if unable to hear.
He'll ask anyone to dance, make the rounds at the bonfires, or do a bit of drinking. He's even at a conversational advantage since he doesn't need to hear, just to see. He does often go to sirens time with Rogue, however, and make certain she's having a sufficient amount of fun.]

Isaac
Having extended birthday wishes, "Trevor"
skulksprowlskeeps about the outskirts of the gathering, curiously watching as others writhe to music as if in a sort of mindless trance. But after a while (and a few drinks) he eventually persuades himself to draw nearer with a sly-faced smile. How unusual it is, still, to find himself among a large throng of people and not a horde of demonspawn, undead, beasts of myth, and abominations only the most twisted of imaginations could have conjured. The latter is a more comfortable thought, but alcohol has a way of loosening stress-wound nerves and emboldening an already roguishly daring man.Depending on how his disguise is received, he may or may not shed the illusion at some point during the night. But what is certain is that he too will dance. For while others have come to remember and celebrate, he has come to forget.

[Bucky and/or Natasha]
Luceti is pretty different from home but he's only been here six months.
Natasha has managed to get him into a shirt with the lowest collar he's ever seen, and attacked him with hair gel and, eventually, eyeliner. He feels a little ridiculous all made up like...]
How'd I let you talk me into this again?
[Once they settle in, the two of them will break off to mingle and dance with the crowd. Bucky especially enjoys the electro-swing, and he's a pretty fantastic dancer who's happy to show off or pull other partygoers into it.
Getting on past midnight he'll accidentally down some magic alcohol and be totally, utterly smashed for the remainder of the party.]
[Natasha - grab her with Bucky or later on without!]

Awfully amazing. oh my god I can't write this kind of thing to save my life.
Karla
She'll be wandering around curiously, checking out the food, watching the people dance, a little nervous about dancing herself, because she really doesn't know how. But she'll be happy to learn
especially from her own brother.Helios
Every once in awhile he'll also go over to the teleportation sigil and make sure it's properly working. He has to keep his strength up to make sure it doesn't collapse while people are walking through it, which is another reason why he's not going to be expending too much energy. Helios will be enjoying himself, albeit not as wildly as some others in the area. He's happy for Max and Eugene and for this day being perfect for everyone. This is a nice night to end the festivities so he really can't complain.

Aw hell.
Eventually, likely following in on Adele's heels, Derek will join the party. He's wearing a tank, some jeans and not much else. If there's beer, he'll go for that. He'll even dance a bit. And he's pretty relaxed and okay with life at the moment. Feel free to sit and drink with him, drag him onto the 'dance floor', or even join him for a little surfing; he has a spare board around. Somewhere.
If Adele's got him though, you might have a little trouble getting his attention at that point.

She is not so old yet where it was an appealing idea.
So once everything was arranged, once all the food and drink was sequestered and the bonfires set and lit safely, she took the time to duck back into the house long enough to change into something more party appropriate. Barefoot and glad for it she returns to the party with Derek in tow, mingling, drinking now and then from a bottle marked with a rune, and after awhile settling on the dancefloor with a vengeance.

[Vastra]
[For the most part, Vastra is keeping to the edges of the party. She has a drink in hand and a lovely box under her arm for the man of the evening, but this is clearly something strange and foreign to her. Foreign enough that she isn't even really dressed for it--in fact she looks like she usually does when she's working or fighting in a draft. It's a beach, as much as she loves Eugene she is not trailing her good silk gowns through the sand.]
[But she's at least trying to look like she's enjoying hanging on the outskirts... If anything, it's a splendid chance to people-watch.]

[Elizabeth]
And does she care that she doesn't know any of the people whose birthday it is? NOPE!][The music is still reminiscent of the strange heavy-beat style music Jack was playing in town, but Elizabeth finds herself bouncing along anyway. Everyone else is flailing and jumping up and down and some people have their hands in the air--it's pretty infectious, and Elizabeth has never been shy about dancing in a public crowd.]
[Mere minutes into her arrival, she has two glowing necklaces already--one around her neck and one worn like a crown--and she's jumping up and down with the best of them.]
((OOC: If asked Elizabeth will dance with anybody! :D Or you can catch her on a break when she has to find some water and sit for a bit of a breather.))

This is exactly the party Jack misses. Oh, sure, it's smaller than usual. Far less people, not nearly loud enough music, and it wasn't a cramped space smelling entirely of sweat and booze. But he suspected it was the best he was going to get and got into the groove of things, dancing accordingly and boozing to his heart's content. He may end up in the ocean at some point with a bottle of booze in hand. Why? Because it's a fantastic idea.

[Eugene]
It was fun. And it was only fun because other people were having fun and joining in for a celebration. Even if they didn't know who it was in honor for (since both he and Max had birthdays closely linked), it was nice to see that Luceti still had a hefty dose of hope. Something that Abel Township was apprehensive to express regardless of how good things looked.
Dressed nice, and prepared to dance till he couldn't any more, Eugene plans to be making his rounds between dancing and having a break near the shoreline. Eventually he will be indulging in some alcohol, but mostly because it looks good, and he's curious about Loki's particular brew.]

She solved the problem by finding a cut off apron top with reflective material in the clothing shop and stuck an electronic sparkler in it. She thought the effect was weird, but her tendancies had always been more towards the Gothic. She paired it with an exceptionally short and tight black leather skirt that hung off her hips, leaving not only the majority of her back and legs bare, but also a good stretch of her stomach. Somewhat incongruously, she still wore her black leather gloves.
Apron shirts, she decided, were ridiculously comfortable with wings. If only she had Loki around to cast the shield on her all the time to make it safe for her to wear them. But no, it didn't do to think that way.
She didn't dare join the dance floor or drink anything stronger than the beer she'd been nursing all night, not so soon after Twila's influence. Mostly she'll be sitting off to the side, up on a doon several feet above where most of the festivities are taking place. Eventually abandoned, her bright pink wig rested next to her as she watched the show, not aware that the blue lights picked up the white of her hair and made it glow. At some point, Rogue might even put on her headphones.
And he complained about Metallica.

Saleh and/or Ewan
So Saleh came to the rave for Ewan's sake, to let him have some fun and keep an eye on him. He'd let him come alone if not for the alcohol and irresponsible adults. Saleh walked around the party, watching the dancers and drinkers. The vibration within his body from the loud music was enough to give him a headache...

He does enjoy the dancing, jumping along with the rest of the crowd to the pounding bass and adding a few of his own illusions to the images provided by Loki; glowing butterflies that dance between the revelers and along the top of the waves. When he's not seeing to that, he's dancing more often than not, jumping and twisting and losing himself to the thoughtless freedom of motion. [Lirael]
She's just... really not used to anything like this kind of gathering. There are lots of people there, being sober appears to be highly optional and the music is an insistent and somewhat oppressive throb that she can feel in her bones just as much as she hears it.
She can most likely be found in some more quiet corner, looking wary and intensely awkward because how does one even people? And... that sort of dancing looks a little more intense and... um... touchy-feely than she's really comfortable with.
She might need to get a little loosened up, anyone feel like helping out with that? ]
