Summary: Hinata and Lee set up a party for Neji!

July 1st and July 2nd

[The time since her arrival had passed by swiftly and before she knew it, Neji's birthday was swiftly approaching. In a rush to make sure that things were done correctly and perfectly for her older cousin, Hinata enlisted the assistance of Lee and Chouji. She knew that her cousin's teammate/best friend/greatest rival would want to lend his help and she didn't think that she could handle the food for the entire party on her own. Besides, she and the Akimichi had discussed cooking together. What better way to do that than for a party?

She'd spent two days of afternoon practice making one of the gifts for Neji, away from the floor where the rest of the shinobi lived. Lucky for her, Kiba lived on the top floor of their building and she'd been able to use the kitchen up there. The rest of the food and sweets had been prepared as normal on the fourth floor.]

July 3rd

[The party is well under way. There are plenty of things to do. Of course, this party is not like Masaomi's recent birthday party. Off to one side, Lee has set up a sparring area for those interested. Hinata is demonstrating tea ceremony with a high blush on her face the entire time, in a formal kimono. Chouji's setting up food on a long banquet table. There's a big table with lots of presents there already for the stoic Hyuuga shinobi.

There are also tables with lovely flowers from Raine-san's shop decorating the top for people to sit and talk.]

I didn't know what to get him. I should get a gift, right? [Still holding all that death guilt WHOOPS]

I dunno what though, you think I should ask Hinata?

Well, I think you should go with how you know Neji. Hinata might probably just tell you what she thinks would be best for him. [Right? Right.] Go with what you think.

Well.. I don't really know, that's the thing. I know what Neji's like, and we're friends, but it's not like we've hung out that much y'know?

I know he has a cat.

[And likes his hair nice and pretty shhhh. He couldn't really list any favourite things, though...]

Then, perhaps it's about time to know him in a deeper level, don't you think? [So you won't have problems like this again the next time.] But for now, maybe we can give him a book about a topic he likes. [Come on, there must be something, son.]

Books.. yeah, he seems like the type to like books. I dunno what kind though, he won't want those weird ones Sai always used to read, or the ones like Ero-sennin wrote.

[He doesn't read many books ok his knowledge is limited....]

What do you mean the ones Sensei wrote? Do you mean he wrote some more stories like "The Gutsy Ninja?"

Uh.. yeah, he wrote more. He had a whole series of them.

[Not quite the same as Gutsy Ninja though.]

About what? Would you tell me a little about them? [Are they as good as The Gutsy Ninja?]

Uh.. they're not like Gutsy Ninja that's for sure. When we were travelling together, Ero-sennin used to make me read the stuff he wrote.

[Dad are we gonna talk about porn.]

I'm sure they weren't that bad. [His sensei had always been very good with his writings and he would sometimes even make Minato read some unfinished manuscripts!] How different are they from the Gutsy Ninja?

[Well, not really something Jiraiya can't do given the man's reputation. He just never imagined he'd turn his perversion into writing. Maybe he resulted to these books when Jiraiya told him that the Gutsy Ninja kind of books won't sell.

Yeah. The Icha-Icha series. Apparently they're really popular, but I dunno, I just thought they were sorta boring y'know?
