Summary: Hinata and Lee set up a party for Neji!

July 1st and July 2nd

[The time since her arrival had passed by swiftly and before she knew it, Neji's birthday was swiftly approaching. In a rush to make sure that things were done correctly and perfectly for her older cousin, Hinata enlisted the assistance of Lee and Chouji. She knew that her cousin's teammate/best friend/greatest rival would want to lend his help and she didn't think that she could handle the food for the entire party on her own. Besides, she and the Akimichi had discussed cooking together. What better way to do that than for a party?

She'd spent two days of afternoon practice making one of the gifts for Neji, away from the floor where the rest of the shinobi lived. Lucky for her, Kiba lived on the top floor of their building and she'd been able to use the kitchen up there. The rest of the food and sweets had been prepared as normal on the fourth floor.]

July 3rd

[The party is well under way. There are plenty of things to do. Of course, this party is not like Masaomi's recent birthday party. Off to one side, Lee has set up a sparring area for those interested. Hinata is demonstrating tea ceremony with a high blush on her face the entire time, in a formal kimono. Chouji's setting up food on a long banquet table. There's a big table with lots of presents there already for the stoic Hyuuga shinobi.

There are also tables with lovely flowers from Raine-san's shop decorating the top for people to sit and talk.]

Me, popular? [He's unwound enough to offer that up dryly, with a slight chuckle behind it.] Perish the thought. I am, as we all know, no fun at all.

[She puts her head down, shaking it slightly.] I have never believed that, as you well know. And I believe that this entire event proves that you must be liked, even a little.

I suppose that's true. [He's smiling as he says it, though] It's... a good reminder, really.

[Hinata can't help but be happy when it it so obvious that Neji is enjoying himself. It's so rare that he allows it to show around others.] Everyone need a reminder of how much they are appreciated from time to time, I have found.

[He's making an effort to show it more. At least when people aren't being embarrassing about things.]

I won't try to claim I'm an exception from that. It's... pleasant.

I am glad. [She looks down at her cup to realize that it is empty.] Would you like another or should I allow you to go mingle with your guests, Neji-niisan?

I believe I will stay a little while, Hinata-sama. It's good for us to spend a little time, as well. Rest assured, I'll get to everyone.

I do not doubt that you will. [Although, yep, she sure is glad that he's willing to spend this much time with her on his day. She takes his cup and makes him more tea, just the way he likes.]

[Gosh Hinata-sama, you're spoiling him.]

I wouldn't want anyone to feel neglected, after all.

No, not that. I am sure that Tenten-san would be all too willing to point out the fact if you had.

I'm sure she would -- loudly and repeatedly. Possibly armed.

[Well, everyone deserves a break on their birthday, right? Even Neji.]

From the stories that you have told me, she would be armed to the teeth. [She frowned in concentration.] That is the appropriate euphemism, yes?

Correct. And with Tenten, it may not always be a euphemism. [Which he says with enormous, though as always discreet, affection.]
