New Feather Party, Summer Edition!

Who: Everyone!
What: New Feather Beach Party!
When: June 18th, 1:00 until...whenever!
Where: The Beach
Summary: Funtime Ocean/Beach Shenannigans!
Rating: G-PG

It's been a lot of hard work, but the New Feather Party is set up and ready to go! A make-shift canopy has been set up, underneath which are a few small tables covered with various foods, some made by Welcome Center staff(though people are encouraged to bring dishes of their own to share!) along with some small ice-filled coolers full of various drinks. There are also a few beach balls, some buckets full of water balloons and some small water pistols (All Pilouette could find were the basic kind; no pumps here!) scattered about for for a bit of fun in the hot weather.

((OOC: There are subthreads, but feel free to post your own top level comments as well!))

Ha, right.

[She rubs her hooves together before continuing.]

So, Nightmare Moon showed up, and everypony got in a huge panic. Where the hay was Princess Celestia? Was the night really gonna last forever? Luckily, my friend Twilight Sparkle knew all about her. She's kind of an egghead, so she's always got her nose in some book. Turns out that one of those books held the key to fixing that whole mess.

All we had to do was hunt down the Elements of Harmony: that's generosity, honesty, laughter, kindness, and loyalty... plus one other. The book was kinda shaky on that, but it did lead us into this spooky place called the Everfree Forest. It's dark, dreary, and stuffed with monsters. Not that it scared me!

[She puffs out her chest, trying to put up a brave front.]

And wherever we went in the forest, we came face to face with trial after trial. First we had to deal with steep cliffs and uneven terrain. That was no big deal for me and Fluttershy, since we're pegasi and all, but the others could've been pancakes if we hadn't caught 'em. My friend Twilight got stuck on another cliff, but Applejack told her to just let go and that it'd be safe. Turns out it was.

The other trials weren't as clear-cut, though. A huge, fearsome Manticore attacked us, and I would've gladly kicked its butt if Fluttershy hadn't tamed it with her kindness. When we got surrounded by some scary looking trees, my pal Pinkie Pie braved them with her laughter... and by breaking into song. She kinda does that sometimes.

A sea serpent whipped up a huge current in one of the rivers over a wrecked mustache, but Rarity chopped off a chunk of her tail as a replacement, and that seemed to cool him off. Then, when we hit the bridge outside the castle, I came face to face with a team called the Shadowbolts. See, I've got this huge dream to join a legendary team of fliers called the Wonderbolts. These guys said they'd do me one better and make me their leader... if I ditched my friends.

[Dash rolls her eyes and stomps her hoof in the sand.]

But there was no way I was gonna let that fly, so I ditched those jerks and helped my friends get across, and together we marched right into the old castle and found the elements...

Except they were kinda just old rocks. Nightmare Moon even smashed them. At first, it seemed like we'd lost... but then Twilight discovered the "spark" that brought all the elements together. Magic. And the rest of us? Turns out we embodied all the other elements the whole time, and together, we trounced Nightmare Moon and turned her back into Princess Luna.

[That's a lot to take in, so she'll try and wrap it up.]

Afterwards, Princess Celestia showed up, reconciled with her sister, and even let Twilight hang in Ponyville with us so she could keep learning about friendship. There was a party, a parade... yeah, I'd say it was pretty sweet.

[WHEW. And that just about covers it, in all its silly details.]

You beautiful creature.

[ Despite how... cartoonish it sounds, Marita seems to be intently listening to the story and every detail Rainbow mentions. She is not quite sure how embodied elements and princess ponies work, but... this is Luceti, and if Spock is here, why can't a pony be? ]

It's hard to wrap my head around your kind of world, but it's still interesting regardless. I'm assuming magic is... highly prevalent in your world?
wannabolt: (thinkyface)

you braved the wall of tl;dr I created. Glad you enjoyed! XD

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-08-18 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
More than just prevalent. Every single unicorn out there's got some kinda magic, and I guess you could argue us pegasi have it to, since we can stand on clouds and stuff.

[But other ponies don't typically call it magic. Nah, that's definitely reserved for unicorns.]
descrier: (❖ 010)

I watched the first season when it aired so I can't not appreciate the wall!

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-10 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting.

[ She means it. If she's here in Luceti talking to a pegasus and running into Spock, she's positive that this all has to exist somehow, in some form. It seems far too elaborate (more elaborate than the Syndicate's previous stunts even) not to, even if it doesn't make perfect sense in her world. ]

Are they different kinds of magic or do they come from a single source?
wannabolt: (thinkyface)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-17 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... Well, there are different types of magic.

[Her brow furrows in thought, and she taps her chin. Really, Twilight would know better than her, but she's seen enough unicorns to get the basic idea.]

See, magic's usually a unicorn thing, and every unicorn's got their own special talent-- well, more like everypony, but with unicorns, that talent plays right into the kinda magic they use. Take my friend Rarity for example; she's got this spell that'll pinpoint all kinds of rare gems. One time she even got kidnapped because of it.

[And then she manipulated the snot outta the Diamond Dogs, much to everyone's surprise.]

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-17 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I assume the mark on your flank typically reveals that sort of things for everyone where you're from?

[ She's seen it before, on the merchandise of her world and the like, but she's obviously never had a need to know past the topical things. Now, she's asking one of the technicolored ponies about how it all works and... without the least bit condescension, her curiosity is piqued. ]

Having that openly revealed to others could cause trouble. Did she escape?
wannabolt: (Rainbow Glasses)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-19 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! It's kinda a big deal for us ponies. Once we discover our special talent, wham. Instant cutie mark.

[Dash hadn't really thought of it as troublesome before, but after what happened with Rarity, she can see why some potential issues could arise. But, man, thinking back on what happened, Dash bites her lip, trying to withhold her laughter.]

But Rarity did more than just escape! Me and everypony else came barging in, expecting to rescue her, but by the time we got there, the Diamond Dogs begged for us to take her back. She drove 'em nuts by throwing fake fits, and it was awesome.

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-20 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ 'Cutie mark.' She files that down in her mind, nearly finding it impossible to ever say aloud... Still, her lips curl just the slightest upwards at Dash's recollection of the events. ]

I suppose that's one way to drive kidnappers crazy.

Your world sounds extremely fascinating... [ Normally, she wouldn't pay any mind outside of seeing it on television, but in the realms of Luceti... ] I'd love to hear more about it, if that's alright with you.
wannabolt: (sassy)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-21 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I've got time to burn.

[Besides, maybe it'll help some of her lingering homesickness. Talking about home almost makes her feel like she's right there.]

What kinda stuff do you wanna know? There's loads I could tell you.
descrier: (❖ 012)

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-22 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to know more about the symbols. [ She pauses, trying to will herself to actually say the words. ] The... cutie mark, I mean. In some way, I suppose it's something like discovering what you're good at to pursue a career in.

What would happen if one never did discover their cutie mark? Or is it something you're inherently born with? [ Anything in the realms outside of reality that she could ask... and she asks the existential questions. ]
wannabolt: (whoa that's a full rainbow all the way)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-22 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, all ponies start out with blank flanks. Earning your cutie mark's a lot like finding out who you are.

[She turns, emphasizing her cool, lightning shaped mark.]

I guess you get your late bloomers, but I've never heard of a pony who didn't get one. If that ever did happen, boy, I'd feel sorry for them. Doesn't everyone have at least something they're good at?
descrier: (❖ 006)

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-24 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ She looks at Dash's cutie mark, supposing that's what she meant about being able to control the weather like the mythological beings that most people in her world were aware of only existed in history of the old worlds. Not many people believed in such things anymore. She nods simply. ]

One would think, but there's still always a chance someone might go through life never knowing what they're meant for... if you take into consideration how many lives there are. [ Strangely enough, she's not referring to herself. ]

So, the moment you find that out, it just... appears?
wannabolt: (Ceiling Dash)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-25 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
True, but that's just depressing to think about. I mean, ponies like that could exist, but you never really hear about 'em.

[If she was more of a bookworm, she'd almost consider investigating it further... Eh, she can always tell Twilight about it when they get back to Equestria.

Well, except she probably wouldn't remember this conversation. Drat! At any rate, Dash nods.]

And that's exactly how it goes. One minute, you got nothing, the next, bam! Instant cutie mark. It just... pops up, kinda like magic. And maybe it is for all I know.

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-26 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems quite comforting to know that even a late bloomer may find a chance to figure out what they're good at. Perhaps that's what prevents any of your kind from not being able to find one: the magic that exists in your world. It keeps a purpose for everything and everyone.

Does any form of currency exist?
wannabolt: (um... so)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-26 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I think you're onto something. Equesria's... wel, it's a whole lot happier than most places. At least, that's the impression I get whenever I hear about other worlds. No wars, no famine, it's about as peaceful as you can get.

[Which has made Luceti an occasionally trying experience for her, especially after her last draft.]

But yeah, we've got money! We use a kinda currency called bits.
descrier: (❖ 011)

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-26 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly sounds like it. Most people would consider that a form of Utopia, though the lack of humans may have something to do with that.

[ It's not that she dislikes humanity. Far from it, she became a diplomat because she truly wishes to help it, but... from her experiences alone, she knows that humankind is far more ruthless than ponies that only exist in a fictional universe from her world. ]

Where I'm from we have different global currencies that can only be used in certain places... the euro being one most recently introduced to eleven different countries. Is it one singular currency or do places outside of Equestria have differing ones?
wannabolt: (Wait what?)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-09-27 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, you really think so? Once you get past looks, you hue-mans don't seem that different from us ponies.

[But then, maybe there's more to it. Dash has never been to their worlds, so who's to say?]

Dunno about other currencies, though. What I do know is that Equestria's pretty consistent with its money. And since I've never really left Equestria, I'm probably not the best pony to ask. You also gotta keep in mind that Equestria's huge.

[She probably hasn't even seen all of it yet, and she's a pegasus with incredible speed!]

[personal profile] descrier 2013-09-29 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There are seemingly a lot of things that we share in common, but things such as lack of war and famine, or a princess that raises the sun is neither of them. Otherwise, a handful of our magic is only esoteric and now an uncommon practice or mostly known to be illusions for magic shows.

You have towns in Equestria, don't you? You mentioned Ponyville earlier... [ These names for their locations... they certainly are interesting. ] I suppose in that regard Equestria would be considered either a continent or country, with various town or states on it. Such as the state of New York being a part of the country, United States of America, on the continent of North America.
wannabolt: (now I feel awkward)

[personal profile] wannabolt 2013-10-01 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, sure. We've got towns, cities, villages... Ponyville's kinda on the small side compared to some spots. Now, Canterlot? That place is huge. And then you've got Manehattan with all its skyscrapers, bustling streets.

[She hasn't spent too much time there, but she at least knows of its existence. Hard not to, especially since Applejack's got family out there.]

'Course, most worlds I've heard about don't have cities up in the clouds. I'd say that gives Equestria a bit of an edge, but I'm kinda biased.

[She's a pegasus. Of course she'd love cities in the sky.]
