Summary: Sokka tries to make up to his housemates by using up his remaining points to make a crowded house much more spacious

That morning, Sokka contacted the Malnosso to use up most of his points. Not only did he recover some of his possessions he had lost when he died, but he opted to make the house bigger. Already there'd been issues after Zuko showed up and with Toph's arrival, there was just too little house for them all to fit into. More upsetting was the realization there was no room for Suki if she ever came back. So despite the knowledge that he might need those points for something else later, he took the hit instead. And so, the upgrade commenced.

He'd been intrigued to watch the house seem to just rebuild itself. He'd delivered the blueprints to the Malnosso and this upgrade would fortunately shift some of the rooms around just as it was supposed to. And it was the afternoon, which meant everyone should be out of the house and would be quite surprised when they returned from their wandering about. Of course, he had some other adjustments to make that would require his bender friends to work on. The Malnosso wouldn't include a free slide with it (after all, he used that free high level reward for a hot tub instead). So he intended to get the first earthbender he found to help him with that. Then of course, they would need to carve a hole in the ground and fill it up with water for a pool. But eventually, after getting that all sorted out, it was complete. The Avatar house had become twice as fun and despite how miserable he'd been lately, Sokka felt good about things.

And so he sent out a message on the journals inviting everyone home. He included an invitation to Suki and Ty Lee to check it out too. They may not have been living at the house, but he was hoping this might change Suki's mind.

By the time everyone else arrives, the pool will be ready (thanks to whoever got roped into making it) and Sokka will have even stocked up on sodas and junk foods for them to eat. He'd have made some good food for them to eat, but... he's Sokka. Junk food will just have to do.

Yeah. It was crowded here before, but now... I think we could fit everyone. From my time and your time.

Yeah. Poor Bolin was inside when it changed. [Asami grins.] I wish I could've seen the house doing that. I honestly have a hard time believing it just...happens.

Was he really? I wonder how that was like.

I have a hard time believing a lot of things, but this place always surprises me.

It's all pretty impossible, isn't it?

Supposedly he slept through it.

[Asami says this like it's obviously something Bolin would do.]

What? How is that... possible?

{asami shrugs.]

He went to sleep when it was one story and woke up when it was two?

He's lucky he isn't part of the wall or something.

Yeah...well, Bolin's pretty lucky so I'm not surprised he's okay.

It's still pretty strange though.

Everything in this place is pretty strange, so I'm guessing this is normal.

Mm.

So will you be coming around more?

I'm certainly going to try. It'll feel weird to be back, but a good weird.

Mm. So why were you avoiding the place anyway? [Asami didn't know the whole story, but it hadn't been hard to figure out that something was up, anyway.]

Oh, well... it's kinda a long story, but after Sokka and I broke up, it was hard to be around here, and the more we fought, the more I refused to come. But that's all over now.

[Asami blinks...and then for a moment she looks really embarrassed. But years of formal gatherings and rolling with being sort of in the public eye lets her cover it up quickly.]

Oh. Well...he's...back to normal now. I mean, I didn't know anything was wrong, actually, but...

[A shrug.]

[Suki gave Asami a weak smile. She was still hurt by the things Sokka said to her, but she was trying not to hold it against him. It wasn't his fault after all.]

Yeah... he, um, said some pretty awful things to me, but it's alright. I mean, not alright what he said, just we're alright. Friends. We're friends.

I'm just not trying to hold it against him since it wasn't really him...

Yeah. That's what he told me. That he...wasn't himself. But he also kept trying to take responsibility for things he did too, and apologizing and I mean, it can't really be both his fault and not his fault...

[She trails off. Well, that was probably saying too much. Shit.]

I mean...it's all just pretty crazy. Yeah.

I know, and I can tell he's different by the way he talks to me. I, um... I don't feel like a piece of meat to him anymore. [A sigh.] The things he did in that state weren't real, and I know that, but... they hurt and they still hurt, and they're probably going to hurt for awhile.

I've actually spent awhile hating him that it's almost natural for me now. I have to remind myself that he's my friend, or at least trying to be.

A piece of meat. [Asami repeats that softly and then sighs.] Yeah. I...get that.

[A breath, and a pause. Did she need to tell her? Could she just not? But then it would hang over everything, wouldn't it?]

So, during all of that. I didn't actually know anything was wrong, right? I mean, I never knew him when he was normal. And there was that whole possession thing...

Really? I mean, I guess you did show up when he was off, and the history books probably didn't go into detail about his personality...

Oh, yeah. I heard about that. What happened? He didn't hurt you did he?

What? No! Not at all. Not...uh. [She frowns.]

...Just the opposite.

What happened?

I don't really understand all of it. When we were...when we had the wings, I was the lightning one and he was the water one...

[Please figure this out before she has to say it, Suki.]

Something happened then?

[Yeahhhh she don't get it.]

...yes. Something.

...did you know he has a bed stashed in that escape tunnel beneath the house?

[Wait. Now she's starting to get it.]

And how exactly do you know that?
