Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Hm? [Her smile is a touch embarrassed, as she takes note of her friend's attention.] Well, I usually just get the same kind of instant food, because it's easier. I thought it might be nice to give something new a try ... though that seems to be evading me.
bided: (- shocked.)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-03 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
If it's something new you want...perhaps I can give you a recipe to try out?

[ She seems to be considering this very seriously. ]

...Really? What do you have in mind?
bided: (+ handclap. yes that's perfect!)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
How about a nice stew? That keeps for a long while, and it can be fairly simple to make, and not costly...

[ Both of which are important, especially when cooking for a family rather than just yourself. ]
wise_maiden: (always looking out)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... it sounds good, but it is very warm lately, and crops have been poor... are you sure it's the right meal for this time of year?
bided: (= oh?)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's true - short of a cold stew, it might be unwise...

[ She's used to her husband liking strange things at strange times. ]

Perhaps a fish dish...? At least the crop failure doesn't effect that particular industry, and it can go rather well with cold drinks...
wise_maiden: (see a perfect forest)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
... Well. Maybe a casserole ...? I don't exactly have the experience handling fresh seafood ...
bided: (+ umbrella.)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
A casserole...I could easily find a good recipe for that! Or I could help you learn to handle seafood, of course! Or both. We really ought to get together more often, and that could be a fun way to do it...

Yes, we really should. Sometimes time just gets away from me... [Even more with the loss of her husband. Living alone isn't easy - and combined with her dedication to work, her eating habits on her own are fairly poor.] Just as long as it isn't any extra trouble for you.
bided: (+ handclap. yes that's perfect!)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's exactly why Trisha's offering, really. She's well aware of Raine's workaholic tendencies, and without someone to look out for her... ]

It's never any extra trouble for a friend, Raine. I think it would actually be quite fun, too!
wise_maiden: (waiting to change)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes... I'm sure it will be. When are good times for you, usually? [Trisha has a family, and she wouldn't want to intrude on any time she's set aside for them.]

Hmmm...let's see...

[ She glances around, considering. ]

Late afternoons or early evenings before dinner are usually best for me. I'm not the only one who can cover shifts here, after all.

[ Though admittedly she would try to have Artemis covering them if she weren't, because neither of the Elric boys could really be trusted with the shop on their own. ]

I see... I'm usually at work still, but with the weekend rush for this party now finished up, I can make more time to come over.

Oh, I imagine that's keeping you quite busy! All those dresses and suits...it's rather nostalgic, isn't it? Homecoming.

You must have seen half of the outfits in Luceti for the dance, by now.
wise_maiden: (just where i would be)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Quite possibly. [She laughs a little.] And it is nostalgic. Some of them are very determined, with what they want already in mind... others are more timid about it. Some have been trying to find the gown they need for weeks on end. I only hope they were able to find what they needed in time.
bided: (+ white laughter.)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so, too. You never forget your first homecoming - or your last, in that case.

...Dare I ask about the most particular dress order you've gotten so far?
wise_maiden: (open your heart to the thought)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you know the wealthy... I've had a few custom orders that took weeks to finish. Mostly due to waiting on materials...
bided: (= um.)

[personal profile] bided 2013-08-04 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
...What sorts of materials have you needed to wait on?

[ Gosh, she finds it hard to picture getting a dress in anything other than something simple, like...cotton. ]
wise_maiden: (listen up and take notes)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-04 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Chiffon, satin, sequins, lace... usually it's just waiting for a specific color.

Still...creating such lovely things must be enjoyable for you?
wise_maiden: (by the lives that i have loved)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2013-08-10 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes! It's a lot of work, but I wouldn't have tried to do this if it wasn't something I truly enjoyed...
bided: (+ what was that? glance.)
