Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

[Any woman with her friendly and open demeanor was welcome in his eyes. That went doubly so for any woman that Fayt would have chosen to spend his life with, but Nel was especially easy for him to get along with. She was open minded and willing to approach anyone, unlike many people of her social status. He respected that.]

Hm...it's a rough market out there lately. [What, with the strike and the undercurrent of discontent among the working class.] Buuut you should be able to find something.

[An education was an education in any state of the economy. He knew this, despite never having gone further than high school himself, and it was why he fought hard to get Fayt a proper education.]

You could take a whack at the library or something. Or maybe something in the historical district.

[The fact that she'd been banned from most of "polite" society by choosing to marry Fayt hadn't bothered her one bit. Anya and Tony would still harass her and look down upon her choice of husband, but that was because they were family, no matter what.

But, God, to be free of those stupid events and obligations she had no interest in was wonderful. Even if she had to tread lightly in the professional world.]

Yes, I was considering both of those things. Besides, I figured I could use the exercise. I've only been... watching the movers arrange furniture the last few days.

[Movers moving furniture... Cliff sighed.]

Yanno, you could've just asked me and the boys to do it. It'd've been way more interesting, and the strike isn't really getting us anywhere right now.

I know, Cliff, but it was part of the package from the store and I... I didn't feel comfortable asking you for favors.

It wouldn't have been a bother. ...Actually, it would have been kinda fun. We could have spent some time all together, had a nice dinner afterward...

[He was just a little suspicious of all package deals anymore, understandably. But, he just wanted Fayt to be happy, and both of the newlyweds were able to make their own choices.

Regardless. He was still allowed to make his opinion known.

[She feels guilty because she knows that Cliff would do anything for her and Fayt and she really should have thought about that when she purchased her furniture for her living room and bedroom, but she...

To be honest, she's used to doing things the way of her family, so it never really occurred to her.]

Well, I still need a dining room set as well. I was thinking of asking Souji to help me pick it out. Do you...think she'd be willing to help?

[There was no reason to feel too guilty. Habits were habits, but Cliff did feel a little put out by it.]

I think she'd love to, really. We never did have a daughter, and it'll be fun.

Yes, and then you and your friends can put it together. I know that I'd be terrible at that. Ask me to cook you a nice little dinner and I'll use all the skills Pepper taught me as a kid. Give me a hammer and I have no idea what to do with it.

That's just fine. [He smiled.] I can teach you if you ever wanna learn, but for now making a nice dinner afterward is good enough.

...They're really not bad skills to have, using hand tools. Might come in handy someday with the way things are going.
