Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

That’s awfully nice of the chair.

[He chuckles at the smile, tracing the man's features with his eyes.]

Just couldn't bear to see you sitting all by yourself.

[Loki gives Isaac a similar once-over, leaning casually against the bar.]

As luck would have it, I couldn't bear to sit by myself much longer either.

Really? [His tone makes a statement of it.] Well then, looks like it was meant to be - and don't I feel special.

[Thoroughly amused, he glances aside briefly and only to gesture for another drink.]

So... does this pretty face have a name?

We are both the playthings of fate, it would seem.

Loki. [Not giving a last name on purpose.] You?

Guess that makes us playmates. [Huffing a laugh, he adds:] Could be doing much worse!

The name's Isaac. [He offers his smile in place of a handshake, leaning forward enough to rest his elbow on the table and his chin in his palm.]

Playmates indeed. We ought to come up with our own game.

[Loki leans forward a little in response himself.] Fancy another drink?

If you're paying.

[It's not entirely a joke either, treading that thin line as he and Zevran so often do between being 'comfortably' poor and piss-poor.]

...What sort of game are we talking about? [A finger draws slow, abstract patterns over the counter.]

I think a few drinks won't break my poor wallet. [He signals for another round.]

Hm. It depends. I rather like chess, you know. [He gives Isaac a sly smile.] But I am also feeling quite athletic today, so I'm open to ideas.

Great.

[Another round is good, but the suggestive hint in the smile he receives is even more appealing, and for a moment the hum of murmuring voices and the clinking of glasses fades from his awareness.]

Ooh... well, I do like a man who's open. Particularly the ones who are a little tense from the start... but with patience and coaxing, learn to broaden their... tastes, and take the plunge. Take all that life is willing and able to give them. It's a big world out there, after all.

[He should feel absolutely ashamed of himself but it's all he can do to crack an almost-apologetic grin like a child caught red-handed.]

[Loki grins. Oh good. They're operating on the same wavelength.]

I'm actually quite well traveled. Some might even say adventurous. If you're curious, I'd be happy to share some of those experiences with you...

Well-traveled, huh...? [Laughing.] Sure, okay.

[The beer arrives at their table and he downs nearly half his glass in one swallow as if for courage.]

I'm up for it. [He says with note of roguish glee as he sets down his drink.] Gotta work early tomorrow, though, so I can't be staying all too long. Try not to miss me too much, yeah?

I've got an early day planned tomorrow as well. [He grins.] Parting shall be such sweet sorrow.

Don't worry, I think my heart can take it. [He jerks his head to one side, gesturing vaguely to the door.] So how soon are we looking to high-tail it out of here?

[Loki grins.] How soon can you finish your drink?

[He takes the question as a challenge and swings his head back, draining the rest of the beer before setting down his glass with a triumphant, breathless smile.]

Magic.

[Loki laughs and quickly chugs his own beer.] I can't wait to find out what other magics you know.

[He slides off the barstool.]

Believe it or not… I can make myself levitate.

[He pushes up off his seat, throwing open his arms in a sweeping gesture. And then he glances down at himself, expectantly, for a beat.]

…Well, I’m working on it. It's a little easier without jeans on.

[Loki claps his hands.] A fair try.

Perhaps I can help you work on that a bit more.

Oh, I'm sure you can.

[Chuckling, he cocks his head and slants him a sly, sidelong look.]

Lead the way.

[He grins and heads out of the bar, voice dropping to a covert murmur as he leaves.]

How fancy would you like to be, darling? I like a good hotel, but there is also something deliciously naughty about a car.

[Thumbs hitched into his jeans, he sidles out, the night air cool and inviting.

There's a greater sense of adventure when wrestling each other down in a car what with the high possibility of passers-by pricking their ears and pasting their faces to the windows. The very idea sends a frisson of arousal through him.]

Heh, honestly, I get the feeling we wouldn’t make it to the room before our clothes go flying and we jump at each other like rabid dogs. [Or maybe that's just how restless he can be.]

[Loki hooks a finger through one of Isaac's belt loops.]

Very possible.

My car's a couple of blocks away, then.

[He gives Isaac a sideways glance.]

Parked behind the church, if you'd believe it.

[There's the briefest moment of wide-eyed, blinking incredulity between Loki's curling finger and the lattermost part of his answer before before laughter bursts from him and he doubles over, stumbling.]

Fuck-- [He manages between gasps. Loki, the pinnacle of classiness.] --don't make me piss myself. Jesus Christ, Loki.

[He sniffs, flushed and grinning weakly as he straightens.] That's the most amazing thing I've heard all week.

[Loki giggles.]

I had a feeling you'd appreciate the humor.

[He gives Isaac a cheery little tug in the right direction.]

[He's giggling too as he follows along.]

Heyheyhey, easy now. You'll rip my nice jeans -- and then I'm gonna have to make you buy me new ones.
