Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

[He chuckles a little and tries to play along.]

Guess you're right. I might as well go look somewhere else. I'll just need to leave... in a car.

[She smirks and looks around.]

Well. What did you have in mind?

[Day 1]

Well... I was thinking of a car that's fancy. And fast! You know, something for us people who got money.

[Day 1]

Hmm. [She looks him over.]

And you are one of those 'people who got money.'

[Day 1]

[He tries to put on a confident air.]

Sure! My family... We're super-loaded! We're practically drowning in lettuce! So much that we... can't carry it out've the house! [Sometimes he's been able to sweet-talk his way into things in the past. But he's never exactly tried going for something as big as the car.]

[Day 1]

[tokennonbender]

Hmm. [No, she doesn't believe him in the least, but she'll humor him, apparently. She tapped a finger lightly against the hood of the closest car.]

Well, this one's 1750. And that one...[A nod.] Is 2250. Those should be easy prices for you and your family full of lettuce, right?

[Day 1]

[lasthairbender]

R-right. [He looks around a little nervously, tugging at his collar.] My family... super-loaded! You could just... send a bill? And they'll drop loads of money here! Sometime!

[tokennonbender]

Uh huh.

[She finally leans her hip against the car and crosses her arms, peering down at him.]

So what's the deal, kid? We both know you can't afford one of these.

[lasthairbender]

[He quickly deflates. Busted.]

You- you don't know that. I'm... I'm!

[Trying on the puppy dog eyes, apparently.]

[tokennonbender]

[She smiles, because...those are sort of working, but she can resist.]

No, really. What do you even need a car for?

[lasthairbender]

I... I just want something really bonified. For... it's for a date, you know? This, girl, she's - she's the living end! [In that time, that's a good thing to say.]

[tokennonbender]

[Asami looks thoughtful for a moment, tapping her finger against her arm as she stares down at him. He did have an eager sort of puppy-thing going on. And if she had to guess, he was trying to date a girl from the right side of the tracks, which meant impressing her.]

...Who is it?

[lasthairbender]

[He looks around nervously.]

It's kind of a secret. Sorry.

[tokennonbender]

Hmm.

Secrets don't get you cars, kid.

[lasthairbender]

Are you saying a secret... would get me a car?

[tokennonbender]

I'm saying a secret might let you borrow a car.

If it's good enough.

[lasthairbender]

Borrowing? Borrowing's good. [He ponders, but he hesitates.]

But... I don't wanna get her in trouble. Keeping this secret is - it's important.

[tokennonbender]

[Asami shrugs.]

I'm not going to tell anybody.

[lasthairbender]

[He holds out a hand with an extended pinky.]
