Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Day Two

[This guy was weird. She's always seen the funny looking magician wannabe standing on the corner around Lowtown. He didn't look the part much at all, but his tricks were decent enough to earn some chump change. She's probably thrown him a nickel at some point when she could actually spare it -- because to resort to something as ridiculous as that, clearly he needed it, right?]

[But today, when she returned to Lowtown to pick up some things to bring back to Casa de Stark, she couldn't help but stop when she saw him again. Something seemed a little... strange. But she couldn't quite put her finger on it.]

[Maybe today was a good day to ask for a little magic? She made her way over, walking in front of him with her arms folded. Unlike the shy, quiet girl who came to the Stark household yesterday, here she was in her element.]

...so. I've got a dollar with your name on it if you can show me something good. How about it?
selfhelp: ([billy] I'll text you)

[...Well. This is unexpected, to say the least. He'd gone out to do more street performances to take his mind off of the swiftly crumbling state of both his romantic life and his home life, yet here one half of that particular equation is, staring him in the face when he's trying to cheer up. He gives the girl - sister, half-sister, ugh, whatever - a dubious look, trying to figure out whether or not she's mocking him or she really doesn't know who he is. If it's the former, he'll be really annoyed, but if it's the latter... Teddy's teased him a bit about the crap disguise of his, so this would count as a victory. Even if he's reluctant to consider bragging about it.]

...Sure, I'll bite. Does the lady have a request, or does she prefer surprises?
magicalesbian: Kari (That's just the way it is.)

[Unfortunately for William, his voice pretty much gives him away. But she's not gong to reveal that she knows just yet. She did ask to see a trick first, after all.]

[Though admittedly, it's getting a bit difficult to ignore that burning anger in the back of her mind, seeing someone from as wealthy a background as William Stark taking pocket change from the poorest of the poor in Lowtown. What on earth did he even need it for!?]

Surprise me. That's part of the fun of magic, isn't it?
selfhelp: ([billy] but cap said...)

True enough. Alright then.

[The more she's around, the longer he wants to call her out on her even being here, demand to know if she recognizes him. It's kind of infuriating to have her here, in what he's deemed as his place to perform. Bad enough he has to deal with her at home, but here, too?

But that would just give himself away, so... ugh. With an inward sigh he pulls a handkerchief from his front pocket, spinning it around in front of himself.]

Just don't set your expectations too high. I don't know if I've got a trick that's worth a dollar.

[He pulls at the handkerchief, and it seamlessly splits into two.]

[...]

[Was... was that the whole trick? Did he just rip a handkerchief in two?]

I guess I could always reward you for honesty?
selfhelp: ([billy] he won't return my calls.)

[personal profile] selfhelp 2013-08-05 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Not so! William's hands are already moving, stuffing the handkerchiefs into a fist with one hand, and drawing them out from the bottom with the other- except they come out different colours, the first one red, the second blue. When he opens his hand again, he's not holding any whites.]

I'm not so sure honesty is something you should reward a magician for. We're the keepers of a million secrets.

[...okay that's a little neat, but totally not the reason she called him out like this.]

You mean like the secret of what's under that flimsy disguise?
selfhelp: art from the ask-hulkling tumblr, coloured by me. ([billy] "whoa I freak him out")

[personal profile] selfhelp 2013-08-07 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes him fumble, dropping the fabric, his eyes wide.]

D-disguise?

[Oh god, she's horrible, she does know who he is...!]

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2013-08-07 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh come on, give me some credit. It's not like you're trying that hard to hide it. [Or at least she'd like to think that's the case.]

What the hell are you even doing down here, William?
selfhelp: art from kaciart.tumblr.com, coloured by me. ([billy] dammit tommy what are you doing)

[personal profile] selfhelp 2013-08-08 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Hrngh. Goddammit. William scowls, glancing away, looking embarrassed and irritated at the same time.]

N... nothing. Just fooling around, that's all. And don't use my name!
magicalesbian: Kari (Let's just pretend that never happened.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2013-08-08 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
[She'd laugh at his reaction if she wasn't angry at seeing him here. The people here were important to her. William? Well, he hadn't quite earned any sisterly love from her just yet.]

Fooling around, huh? What, isn't your allowance big enough that you don't need to be mooching pocket change off us poor folk?
selfhelp: ([billy] I am not telling my parents.)

[personal profile] selfhelp 2013-08-10 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not mooching, I'm providing a service, and no one is even required to pay for it. It would be more suspicious if I didn't accept donations for my work.

[He doesn't like those implications, thank you very much.]
magicalesbian: Kari (That offends my girlish sensibilities.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2013-08-10 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm sure the people here would totally agree that it's totally fair for the son of a wealthy aristocrat to be down here among the working class acting like he's one of them.

You're lucky that disguise of yours makes you look so ridiculous. If people knew you were a Stark, you'd probably get mugged or something.
