Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

So it was that little Clove Horner had just come home from school. Jack Horner, business mogul that he was, had made his way off work early. He was in the main hall with his golfing supplies. With a club in hand, a ball on the ground, and a cup set at the far side of the room. He had to practice his short game.

Too bad Clove closing the door on the way in made him miss.

"Shit," said Jack in a way that was very unbecoming of any 1950s dad.

Clove saw the shot go awry a moment too late and frowned. It wasn't her fault, she knew that, but, well. She smiled a little, to add to her words.

"Sorry, Daddy."

It was, Jack decided, the fault of the universe itself. But he had never been known to let the universe win or to make a big deal out of it. So he shrugged and walked over to fetch the ball.

"Aren't you home a little early?" She probably wasn't, but he'd lost track of time.

"I decided I didn't feel like having a milkshake with the girls today." So, not really home early. Maybe a little for her, but not much.

"Don't tell me you're on one of those diets. You're already as thin as a rail, Clover."

"Promise I'm not, Daddy. I just felt like skipping. Cato kind of made me mad at school today."

Jack thought Cato was a decent boy. He was, after all, from a rich family. Which, really, was what mattered most. All the same...

"What did he do?"

"He finally asked me to the dance." She frowns. "By turning to me at lunch, smiling, and saying, 'So, we're going to Homecoming together, right?'"
originaljackass: (Hilarity ensues)

She may have been upset by it, but Jack just laughed. "So much for romance being dead. So what did you tell him?"
shenevermisses: (Biding time)

She gives him a look. One that clearly says 'Men.' But she goes on, "I said yes, of course. Then hit him in the arm for asking me like that."

He decided she was far too young to start systematically putting all men into the same category. Something to address later. "You should have said no. Made him squirm a bit."

"Made him ask me properly," she adds, grinning suddenly. "But I was nice. I just told him I'd be mad at him the rest of he day."
