Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

I'll try not to. [His smile returns a bit, relieved. Perhaps it was silly of him to worry over his father so, but he wanted to help his father as much as he could... perhaps because it was only the two of them, he felt he needed to do his part more keenly.] But if you do stay home, I'll be sure to come right back after work. Is that alright?

I don't have anything else to do today. [He had nothing else to do.... Tear would be at home by then, so he couldn't ask her what he needed to ask today.]

I suspect you will have homework, so that's fine with me. [His stiff and rather proper speech is probably the most telltale sign that he is not "himself" ... but he wouldn't be able to notice such a thing. Not so early on.]

How long are you supposed to work today?

[How would he figure out where Freyjadour supposedly worked? Maybe there would be hints around the house...]

I will. The teachers are not giving us any slack with homecoming. [Albert's formality is likely as strange to Freyjadour as his lack of formality is to Albert. It is a tip off, and not all of his worry was alleviated by the act, but he wasn't sure what to think of it yet. It was too bizarre, and part of him wanted to put it down to his father being ill.]

I'll be at the shop the usual hours, unless you need me.

The usual hours. [Another thing to puzzle over. Albert takes another sip of his water and nods distantly, brows knitting together as he found himself thinking about anything strange that may have happened last night. This was too much like what had happened when Bil had entered the enclosure to really be an experiment, right?

He would take a risk.]

Freyjadour, does 'Malnosso' mean anything to you?

The Malnosso Incorporation? of course it does. [His brows furrowv a bit, wondering at the odd phrasing. Of course his father was just as concerned by the recent issues with the factory as he was-- It affected the entire town, after all.] I worry the problems at the textile factory are only going to get worse.

[Three months of striking and still no sign of the management budging.... It was bad.]

[Textile factory? Somehow, Albert had expected something a little more prominent. But if something was going on to make things worse...]

Have they been telling you much about what is going on, at school?

[Another measured risk. It was possible that the Shifted version of himself would have told Frey, as his father.]

[falenandawn]

[He shakes his head.] Not really, no. But it's impossible for anyone in town to be completely ignorant of the problems. That is why they are striking, after all.


[People already had difficulties as it was to feed their families, what with the poor wages at the factory. And businesses of all sorts were suffering as the strike wore on because people couldn't pay for their services. Ultimately, the entire economy of the town was suffering in various ways.]

[A strike. The workers standing up against the Malnosso Incorporation. Albert immediately found himself frowning deeper at that bizarre reflection of their actual situation with the Organization. Why?]

It's building resentment. [He's careful to keep those words in the present tense, as opposed to some hypothetical scenario.] On both sides of the matter. [...] I just wanted to know your thoughts.

[He should deflect before the prince could form a question.]

[falenandawn]

It is. [Personally, Freyjadour believed the workers had every right to strike. They had to keep roofs over their heads... put food on the table. The poor wages they were making made such a thing difficult.]

I would like to hope things will work out well and the strike produces a change, but the situation appears only to worsen as time wears on. Three months is a long time.

[chikaidestroyer]

[It would have been in the Organization's best interests to paint themselves in a most positive light, if this was anything like what had happened before... Had Bil set back their work with the Shift that much?]

It's going to hurt the kids going to your dance. It's a shame all around. [He must have sounded like a disappointed parent -- a strange comparison he never really imagined crossing his mind.

...And there went the rest of his water. He turns from the window to set his glass on the counter.]

[falenandawn]

It will. Tensions are high everywhere in town, and the school is no different. [With students of all classes mingling there, why wouldn't there be? Everyone had their own worries at the moment, thanks to recent event.]

I would not be surprised if some students did not come at all because of it. [And he'd heard rumors of difficulties producing funds to make the dance happen at all....]

[chikaidestroyer]

But you are still helping out, of course. [That part of the prince's personality was intact, at least.

He clears his thought, glancing at Freyjadour and the prepared sandwiches.] I should let you get back to getting ready for school.

[So he could get to searching around the house for more information.]

[falenandawn]

Ah... I help Tear if she asks, but they have a good deal of help as it is. [He smiles. Helping could get awkward, if he somehow made it too obvious how close he and Tear really were.... problems might arise. Most only knew them as as close friends... an oddity perhaps, but not scandalous, though he was fairly sure Rapunzel knew. Shaking his head, he finishes up the sandwich, placing it on a plate and considering it.]

Alright. Will you be wanting the sandwich now, or should I wrap it?

Please go ahead and wrap it. I'll be eating something else for breakfast. [Probably. Eating was so low on his priority list right now, with this whole Shift fresh on his mind.]

Will you need anything before you head out? [It feels prudent to ask, to make sure there wasn't anything that would have the prince quickly returning only to find him picking through the house like he didn't belong in it.]
