Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Well, to say that she's surprised would be an understatement. Saori's mouth drops open and she leans forward in spite of herself. Her baby sister liked a boy? Well that certainly would explain why she was so flustered but...worried? Needing advice?

"And...what sort of advice to you need, dear?"

"I...He is from a poor family. Otou-sama would be...angry?...if he met Rin-kun, but...I..." She trailed off, staring down at her hands, face so red that she wasn't sure she'd ever stop blushing. "I may have agreed to go to the homecoming dance with him."

It's not that at seventeen that Hinata was finally interested in boys. No, she'd been interested in this particular boy for the last few years, but as this was her last year of high school, she'd finally gathered courage to talk to him.

"Hinata..." Saori slides her chair closer. "That doesn't matter. Father won't be angry, not so long as you're happy. And it's your last year in High School, so I don't see why you shouldn't have fun with a boy you like."

That is a lie, of course. Father will be livid, but as usual the elder sister will deflect it. Probably onto herself, but she will definitely be doing some deflecting.

She shook her head. Hinata knew what their father was like. What Saori didn't know is that Hinata and Neji had stood outside the door to their father's study when he'd had his conversations with both Saori and Barnaby both, holding each other's hands as their father told their sibling of how they'd lowered themselves both socially and in his eyes with their choice of partners. It was partially why she was sure that Neji was afraid to admit that he liked guys himself.

"Neesan...thank you but please do not lie to me. I...I know what will happen... I just-I like Rin-kun too much to not see him. I hope that I can introduce you to him soon as well."

Wrinkling her nose, Saori offered her sister an apologetic smile, and briefly considered reaching for the bottle of brandy she kept in her desk. She wasn't a heavy drinker, despite her wilder college days, but sometimes it helped. Maybe later...but for now it doesn't seem appropriate.

"Sorry. I just don't want you to worry about it. You should see him. I'll handle Father, so don't concern yourself with that little detail. I just want to see you happy dear, and I'll make sure you have the chance."

She doesn't know about Neji, no. And she doesn't know about their listening in, but then...it's fair to assume Father had told Hinata how he felt about Yuuna and Kakashi.

"Thank you, Neesan. I appreciate that you are willing to protect me from Otou-sama's wrath...I... I just want everything to go well with Rin-kun. I am aware of the way that our father feels about those from the lower classes."

Really, if Hinata was going to have a role model on how to be a good sister, then her own could have been no greater. It really hurt her to think that Saori and Barnaby were hardly talked about by their shared parent during those cold meals Hinata shared with him once a week.

"That's what I'm supposed to do, baby sister. Father put a lot of pressure on me as a child, and I just don't want to see the same thing happen to you. Especially not before your big date, and certainly not over something as absurd as his family's background."

She scoots her chair closer and takes Hinata by the hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Everything will be alright."

She knew that coming to her sister was a good idea. While she loved her brothers, Barnaby had his own issues with their father and Neji hadn't ever said that he approved or disapproved of Rin. Besides, she needed to hear these words.

"Thank you, Neesan... I...Would you help me pick out my dress then?"
windandrain: (Half Smile)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-08-08 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
With a nod, she agrees. Dress shopping could be fun, and Hinata had a good figure so it shouldn't be too hard to find something nice. Even if Yuuna would be better suited for it, she had a feeling that her sister needed her to do this.

"Of course. How does tomorrow sound?"
twinlionfists: (unexpected)

"It sounds perfect!" In an uncharacteristic show of enthusiasm, Hinata hugs her older sister with a huge smile before running up to her room. "I am looking forward to it!"
