Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Visiting Jim every day during his lunch break had become such a regular routine for her. She couldn't remember when they had even started this ritual. Sometime when they had first started dating, perhaps? She didn't know. Nor did she care. This was one of the highlights of her day. A span of time meant only for the two of them. No responsibilities, no worries.

Just a couple of BLTs, soda pops, and each other in the temporarily closed bike shop. Who knew engine grease could easily be such a turn on?

"Jim?" Katniss called out as she entered the shop, closing the door behind her and remembering to lock it. She brushed a stray strand of dark hair out of her face and walked further in. "I brought your favorite."

Jim always sent his helpers home for their lunches because of this, because of his Kitty Kat. He grinned when he heard her come in, setting aside his wrench and grabbing a rag to wipe his hands, pushing his cover all down around his waist so she wouldn't have to hug his greasy chest.

"Thanks, Kitty Kat," he beamed, catching her up in a big hug, breathing in her sweet scent that always made him shiver and feel so good. He pressed a warm kiss to her lips in greeting, not caring if it was entirely proper they be here alone together. They were engaged, who had right to complain?

"Been waiting for this all day," he drawled, setting her up lightly on a nearby work bench with a wink, going to grab some pop from the ice box he kept in the garage.

Kitty Kat. She had balked the first time he had called her that, looked at him as if he had lost his mind. But it slowly grew on her. Especially when the nickname was accompanied by one of those devastating grins of his. How could she possibly mind when he looked at her as if she were the only girl on the planet? He made her feel special each and every time their eyes met. It was a happiness Katniss never imagined herself being allowed to have. Not when she was supposed to marry and aristocrat to carry on the family lineage.

But Jim wasn't like all those upper class snobs her parents would introduce her to. He was something real.

She hugged him back with equal enthusiasm, careful not to let the sandwiches get squished in the process. Her lips pressed against his, propriety be damned. They were engaged. And she loved him, desired him. The kiss ended all too soon for her taste. She protested just a moment, pouting her lips at him as he turned to head to the ice box.

"Waiting for what exactly?" There was a teasing note in her tone. "Me or the sandwich?"

"Can it be both and not get me smacked?" he asked her cheekily over his shoulder, taking out two bottles of coke and coming back over to his intended. He cracked them both open and sat them on the work bench where they usually at their sandwiches (plus they needed a place to sit unattended while he payed more attention to his lady).

"Maybe," she said slowly, tilting her head as if considering the question. She pursed her lips together and brought her fist up to her lips to try and hide the smile that still cracked through. She had never been good at acting or flirting, trying to be coy when all she wanted was to be herself.

But once in awhile? Especially with Jim? She had discovered it could be fun to pretend. To try and make him sweat just a little. And then dissolve in a fit of giggles afterwards. "But you'd have to make it worth my while."
