Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

[Well, you're the boss, Raine. Haru won't argue there. He'll just head on over to the fitting rooms as instructed.]

[It doesn't take long to get his measurements, and afterwards the clerk shows him into another part of the store to look at the menswear rentals, as instructed by Raine.

For the moment she's held up by another customer, so she'll be with him the first moment she's free.]

[Haru looks at the various rentals the store has to offer, inwardly cringing at the price tag on each one. He's saved up a decent amount of money, but not nearly as much as he'd like, considering the amount of work he's done. Squirreling away a few dollars here and there after giving a chunk of it to his dad to help out. Between his carpentry work and his dad's dance lessons... Well, they made enough to get by. But not enough to really afford luxuries without some careful saving.

He just hoped he could afford whatever Raine showed him.]

[Raine tried to send money to them when she could, though she knew it wasn't exactly wanted from her. She would just hope it would go toward bills and necessities, so they could use their own money for themselves. It was different when Haru was a child and unable to contribute, but now... well, she had a lot of expenses of her own to deal with following her husband's death.

But with this in mind, and knowing how things were for the lower classes, Raine tried to make sure that there were reasonable prices, or rental systems for fancy occasions. She wouldn't show her brother anything that she knew would be beyond his budget, and at least she thought she could reasonably trust him with an installment plan moreso than anyone else.]

Did you have any sort of color or style in mind, Haru?

Uhh... Something black. I... didn't really have a style in mind. I was kinda hopin' you could help out there, Sis.

Hmm... well, let's see. Black, we can work with, or maybe something else dark - this dark blue, perhaps?

Do you have one like that with some white trim, maybe?

[wise_maiden]

I think so. I'll go take a look.

[She moves toward the rental racks - some of the suits are in an older style, but still in good condition. It takes her a few moments to browse to find another - they're of varied sizes and the store has been busy - but eventually she pulls out a blue suit that has white on it, as requested.]
