August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

[It was late evening on a Saturday, and Barnaby was just settling in to relax outside with a glass of ice cold, sweet tea when he heard the knock at the door. His curls were still wet from his recent shower and he was barely dressed enough to take on a visitor, but a nagging disquiet in the back of his mind told him that there had to be trouble if someone was dropping by. Shrugging into a loose, comforable shirt he headed for the door-- and was surprised by the young woman standing on porch.]

[When the door opened, Barnaby would see his little sister in tears before she flings herself at him and buries her face in his warm shoulder.]

Niisan... I am sorry for...coming so late...Please...let me...stay here

[Barnaby was taken aback by the tears in her eyes and the desperation in her tone for a beat before he squeezed her tightly in his arms. Anything that could put her in this state was an emergency indeed...]

Shh. Don't apologize. [He dipped his head forward to rest on top of her's and spoke softly, gently.] You can stay here for as long as you need to, Hinata-chan. No one is going to bother you here.

[He meant that sincerely, and not just as a means of comfort. He'd sic Kakashi and the dogs on anyone who dared to come by and harrass his little sister.

Barnaby patted her on the shoulder and pulled back, and wiped a tear from her cheek.]

Come on inside. Let's get you something to drink.

[The thought of something to drink is wonderful, especially after the hysterical running she's done to get to her brother's house. Barnaby will probably be very angry with her when he finds out that she ran from the shopping trip she was on with Saori after the scene in the tuxedo rental shop, but she doesn't care. She...needed to get away, and her older brother was the only one she could think of to help her.

She nodded and let him pull her into his house, sniffling and trying to calm herself long enough to stop crying.]

[What Hinata wasn't understanding was that Barnaby would be a hypocrit if he criticized her at this point, although her fears were understandable. Their father's views and his temperament affected everything else in the home, making certain topics almost a taboo. Like certain actions in life...

He sat her down in the kitchen and poured her a glass of tea.]

It's alright. You can calm down now. [His tone was gentle, but belayed his concern. This was something that required a lighter, delicate approach.] Just relax. I'll listen if you want to talk.

[She took the cup from him, letting the heat calm her slightly shaking hands as she tried to gather her normal calm to her.]

I...I...hit someone today. For the first time. [And it was a damn good punch too, because even if she doesn't consciously remember how to do it, her body does and she did it with all of her considerable strength.]

[That admission itself was notable. Hinata was the least violent person he knew.]

What happened?

[It had to have been something big.]

Sasuke Uchiha...I found him kissing Neji at the...rental shop. [She let go of the cup to make fists out of both of her hands, a bitter tone creeping into her voice as she spoke.]

He...he is seeing Ty Lee and knows that Neji is seeing Bulma, and yet... Besides that, he has said horrid things about people who aren't just like him and I... even if Neji likes men as you do, Barnaby-niisan, I cannot...approve of that choice. He deserves...better.

[The bigger crime was the fact that both of them cheated on their girlfriends, intentionally or not.]

Sasuke Uchiha. Isn't he that quarterback?
