Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

[ Twilight barely remembers growing up at the orphanage. She was, after all, only two when her mother adopted her. But she does remember the girl who was all but her old sister while she was there. She continued to tag along with her around town as she grew up, when her mother was busy, and she still looks up to Fluttershy now.

Between that, and her mother and uncle coming from the orphanage, the place is all but her second home. Third home, if you count the library.

She visits on Saturday morning, the excitement of Homecoming week over and the dance still looming on the horizon. She goes looking for Fluttershy, wandering the corridors, hoping to help with errands or at the very least catch up. ]

[Fluttershy's a bit rushed this morning - Saturdays are the busiest days, after all, since the kids are around pretty much all day instead of at school - so as Twilight is walking by, she suddenly bursts out of one of the rooms with an armful of laundry and just about crashes into her.]

Oh-! ...Oh my goodness, Twilight! I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were here!

[ Twilight emerges from the pile of laundry that has just made acquaintance with the floor. ] Sorry, Fluttershy! I should have announced myself. Cleared my throat, or coughed. I just wanted to see if I could help with anything.

[ She starts gathering the laundry into a pile. All the clothes are so small! She barely remembers when she fit into something this size. ]

No, no, it's completely my fault! I was careless and didn't look where I was going.

[She hastily steadies herself and reaches out to help clean up the mess. How clumsy of her, honestly...]

Oh, that's all right. Saturdays are your busiest, after all. [ Twilight's come here often enough to know that. ] I can come back later if now isn't a good time. Unless I can help you with something?

No, no! I'm glad you're here. I just finished the laundry, so maybe we can chat while I do my folding?

[She doesn't want to put Twilight to work - that would be taking advantage of her visits! - but she's confident in her ability to multitask. It's kind of what she does 99% of the time anyway.]
