Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

"That's good! And how's Belle? I'd like to meet her someday, you know." It had been a little strange for Katara to realize that she was feeling this way towards someone so much younger than she was. But once she'd decided not to let that bother her, everything felt so natural with Aang. She was glad that he'd asked her to go steady with him.

"She's fine! She was working really hard, too." Harder than him, since he was still learning the ropes for the most part. But he hoped to improve more soon and take some of the load off from her. "And you two've definitely got to meet! I'll see if it can happen sometime this week."

"That would be great!" Katara smoothed a hand down her hair in an uncharacteristically nervous gesture. "I know you're really busy this week..."

"Kind of..." He says, while nodding along. But it seems like she has more to say.

She shifts a little uneasily from side to side. "Did... you hear about the big school dance?"

[lasthairbender]

"Oh - the dance! I've heard of that. Some of my friends who go to school have mentioned it. It sounds like it'll be lots of fun!"

He smiles, but it's something he hasn't thought of as a thing he could attend. Since he doesn't go to school, after all. And his spirits do dampen a bit as he's afraid of where she's going. Could she have asked someone else - someone older, who goes to school and reads books and has money?

"Well... I was wondering..." she stroked a hand down her hair for a moment of insecurity.

"Y-yeah?" He asked uncertainly. A little hopefully even. Because maybe she was getting ready to toss him aside, but his heart was beating. He couldn't help but wonder if she was instead about to ask something else.

"Wouldyougotothedancewithme?"

It would be a big deal. Everyone would know, then. And Katara couldn't think of anyone else she'd rather be with. She wanted everyone to know.

Did she... Did she just say what he thought she did?

Aang stands there, frozen with his eyes widened in confusion for a moment, as he tries to pick apart that sentence. Because... Did that just happen?

Silence was not a good sign.

"I mean... you don't have to if you don't want to. I just thought it'd be... nice?"

[lasthairbender]

She was really asking him. This was really happening.

"N-no! I mean..." He takes a breath, then he leans over to try to grab onto her hands and hold them into hers, while looking up into her eyes. "Katara... Baby... I'd love to! Really! But... only if it's what you really want. If I'm there with you at the dance... Won't that bring you shame?"

"Why would I ever need to be ashamed of being with you?" Katara said. "I don't like sneaking around about this, Aang. I'm happy with you. I don't care what my parents or anyone else thinks - I want to go to the dance with you. If you'll come."

[lasthairbender]

"I'll come." He says quickly, with a smile that's so earnest. It's true. She really, truly wants to go with him. And then he repeats, with more fondness, "I'll come with you, Katara. You're the living end."
