Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

[While waiting, Raine had started idly browsing through one of the newer releases, though was still more preoccupied with her train of thought. She nearly jumps when Layton calls her, though she quickly tries to smooth it over as just being absorbed by the book, and after putting it back down, steps closer to approach him.]

Hello, Hershel. Have you had a busy day?

[Ah, well. Concern temporarily aside, he can't help but smile in full as he nears, holding a palm out as he stops in front of her. Lend him your hand for a moment?]

Nothing compared to what you must have seen over the past week. Today was a relaxing one, I hope?

Oh... yes. Very relaxing, in comparison. [Today was rental-return day, for those that were kind enough to actually return them. Though the states that they were returned in was another matter.

At the familiar gesture, she reaches her hand out toward his open one.]
reminded: (Of course my dear.)

[He takes her hand and bends to press his lips to it, tipping his hat back and out of the way. As he straightens, he gives her hand a squeeze... and looks at her a little more closely.]

Shall we go? I've already arranged for one of the staff to take over for the rest of the day.

[There's a brief look of alarm in her eyes, and with her hand in his, he might feel that her pulse is slightly elevated.]

Oh - have you? You're always so prepared.
reminded: (That's right.)

[His head tilts slightly. Strange.]

But never too prepared.

[He turns away for a moment to catch the attention of the aforementioned staff worker, who waves Layton away in return. With that out of the way, he lets go of Raine's hand and gestures for her to lead the way out -- ladies first.]

[Raine gives him a small nod, as she turns. She tells herself that she's just being silly - it wasn't as if she was venturing outside alone.

Still she probably moves a little slower than she should toward the door. There's something safe about a well-lit bookstore, as opposed to the unknown waiting on the street beyond, even when there had hardly been any reason to think less of it before. Life was too complicated sometimes.]
