Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

I haven't either. I know I want to get my date flowers, but... [His lips thin a little, worry hinted at in his tone.] I don't want to give her the wrong ones.

Is she really picky? I kind of get the feeling that my date is.

[falenandawn]

I don't think so.... But she isn't the problem. [He shakes his head.] I am trying to make a good impression on her family as well.

[He gives Shinji a curious look.] What kind of colors does she likes...? Do you know?

[Because clearly picking out her favorite color is a start... right?]

Oh. [The expression on Shinji's face softens a bit. He understood exactly where Frey was coming from. While he wasn't quite so worried about that himself, he knew the feeling.] Well, I know she really likes to wear the color pink, but I'm worried that might be too obvious. Do you think I should take a chance?

[falenandawn]

Would she be upset by it being obvious? [He would think someone would prefer something they liked.... wouldn't they?

How do you date someone, he's still figuring that out.]

[shinesbrightest]

No, probably not... I think. [He sounds genuinely unsure.] But I was thinking she might like them more if she knew I put a lot of thought into it.

[He figures that by picking a less obvious choice, she'll think he was thoughtful, and that would totally make a better impression.]

[falenandawn]

True.... [He frowns thoughtfully, considering.] Roses might be out then, too....

[shinesbrightest]

Y-yeah. I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea, either, so something simpler might be best.

[It wasn't that he didn't like her, obviously. If he didn't, he wouldn't have asked her to the dance! But roses just seemed like... too much.]

[falenandawn]

[Yes, roses were a bit.... more serious.] Carnations, maybe?

[shinesbrightest]

Carnations? [He looks back toward the flowers, taking a moment to point them out.] These, right?

[Shinji wasn't very good with stuff like this but he thinks they're carnations...]

[falenandawn]

I believe so. [They were less serious than roses... he thinks.]

[shinesbrightest]

I think they're great. All I have to do now is pick a color.

[That was still going to be a tough choice, but narrowing it down this much had really helped! He smiles gratefully.]

Have you thought about what kind you're getting yet?

[falenandawn]

I've been stuck myself, actually. [He smiles awkwardly. Roses were out of the question... while he was serious about Tear, he had a feeling it would be too much, on such an occasion.] But I think I'd like to get her something blue.

[shinesbrightest]

Oh, blue's a great color. [He was really partial to it, himself!] Light or dark?

[falenandawn]

...Dark, I think. [To contrast her eyes.]

[shinesbrightest]

That sounds really nice. I hope she likes them. [...oh, right.] And her family, too, I guess. I wish I could help, but I don't know much about this stuff.

[And he couldn't even imagine what her family might be expecting... He didn't even want to imagine what his date's family might be expecting.]

[falenandawn]

[Ah... He had a sinking feeling that no matter what he did, at least one or two members of her family might dislike him.] I hope so, too. I'm afraid I don't know what to do either, there.

Have you met them?

[falenandawn]

Not her parents, no. [Her twin sister went to school with them both, though. ] How about you?

[shinesbrightest]

Um, well, I've met her dad. He seems a little pushy, but he means well... I think.

[He only wanted what was best for his daughter, he was sure, but he couldn't help but feel like it would be nicer if he was less... involved?!

He probably shouldn't say that, though.]

[falenandawn]

Pushy...? [He supposed it made sense. A father would worry about his children, of course....]

[shinesbrightest]

Yeah. I think he's worried I might not be a good date for her. But I mean, it's just a dance...

[Right?!]

[falenandawn]

And I suppose telling him 'it's just a dance' would not go over well, either... [...That could be a problem, yes...]

[shinesbrightest]

Y-yeah, probably not. [Although he can't help but smirk a little. He feels like Frey really understands.] I wasn't too worried about trying to impress her family, but I don't want it to seem like I don't care at all.

I suppose going to the dance as friends can have plenty of it's own brand of complications. [At least, that was the image he was getting.]
