Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Uhhh... [ She kicks back her glass to give herself time to find a suitable answer. It doesn't help much. ] Some...times. I mean, we talk about school.

[ And how much they disliked it. ]

Mm, I see. [ Ororo just continues to set the table placidly. Too placidly? Surely not. ] And those other times? What do you then?

[precipitous]

You know...teenager stuff. [ Nothing too illegal. Most of the time. ]

[calmbeforethe]

[ She gives her daughter a faint, bemused smile. ] Teenager stuff, hmm? Something too cool to share with your curious mother?

[precipitous]

Depends on how much you wanna hear about card games and belching contests.

[calmbeforethe]

[ And Ororo just smiles indulgently. ] Growing up with your Uncle Remy and living with your father? I'm afraid it will take a little more than that to scare me away.

[precipitous]

[ She laughs boisterously. ]

Alright, fair enough.

[calmbeforethe]

So...? [ She draws out the oooh, taking a seat at the kitchen table and inviting Korra to sit next to her. ] What did you do with them today?

[precipitous]

[ Korra refills her drained up, then takes a seat at the table. ]

We might'a...chased some kids off our turf. It was for their own good, honest.

[calmbeforethe]

Some kids? [ That's just vague enough for Ororo to be a bit concerned. ] Were you in some kind of trouble? Did something happen?

[precipitous]

No, no, don't worry. [ Though even if it had been trouble, Korra wouldn't straight-up say so. ] We chased them off so there wouldn't be trouble.

[calmbeforethe]

[ Ororo frowns, crossing her arms across her chest and giving Korra a stern look. ] That sounds a little like picking a fight with some kids who hadn't done anything yet.

[precipitous]

[ Korra lifts her hands defensively. ]

There wasn't any fighting! Just...you know. Talks!

[calmbeforethe]

Talks... [ Well... She can't really say anything to that. So Ororo just sighs, frowning worriedly. ] I suppose that's fine.

I just don't want you getting into any fights, Korra. The last thing I want is for you to get yourself into trouble with, well, with anyone. [ Rival gangs, school, the police... ]

[precipitous]

That's why I stick with my friends. No one dares mess with us.

[ Some...times. But hey, a little reassurance can't hurt, right? ]

[calmbeforethe]

As long as they're not the ones getting you into trouble, dear. [ She's heard things, okay. ]

[precipitous]

See, I have a fix for that, too. Whenever trouble starts to brew, I head on home.

[ Ooooor rather once it looks like someone is going to get caught, she heads home. ]

[ Well. She does trust her daughter's judgment.

Ah, but don't go bringing the trouble home to us, alright? Unless you want your father to deal with them.
