August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

[He quietly just puts that out there. If Luke can be on the right path and part of his family, then all the better for them.]

But what's this? Having trouble with the dance? Oh my, now that won't do. You know, if it's a partner you're looking for, you could always ask Tear.

[Every word out of Luke's mouth about the company had been a lie; it's been going downhill since he took over, but if there was one thing he was taught, it was to never make it look like the company was suffering. Besides, he had a plan. If things went the way he wanted them to, Asch would take over, and then things would look up again.

Things aren't going the way he wanted them to right now, but he'll keep trying. He couldn't let this place fall.

Dwelling on the topic just makes him mad, so he moves on from it. Besides, there's the dance thing, and that makes him swivel around again and press his palms against the desk as he stands up to glare at Jade, never mind the dumb blush that's creeping on his cheeks.]

I'm not going to ask Tear! She's my best friend, and she deserves a lot better than me! ... Besides, I'm pretty sure she's going with someone else.

[The blush is worth a thousand words. And Jade smirks confidently.]

Oh? And who exactly would that be? [He steeples his fingers and leans slightly forward curiously.]

[... Oh, hell. Luke blinks, eyes widening for a second, then lets his expression smooth into something calmer, more impassive: his business face. He sits, hands sliding from the desk to steeple his own fingers, unknowingly mimicking Jade's pose, although he's leaned back rather than forward.]

I don't know. She's been talking about going, so I just assumed.

I already asked someone, too, so there's no point in asking her.

You don't say. Now that's a shame. You never know - she could have turned out to be agreeable to going out with you after all.

... Even if she was, I'm not the type of person she should have. [He gestures to himself.] Mr. Curtiss, look at me. Thinking about everything I've been through; do you really think I'm a good match for Tear?

Luke. [He says quietly.]

You certainly aren't the ideal Catherian, I'll admit that. You're fairly gullible, and you don't seem to have learned much about running a company. [He pauses, as if he'll never get to the positive qualities.]

However, Luke, you have not fallen like your brother has. You are still in the game, and I see potential in you. With guidance from someone like me, I'm sure that you could be on a road to self-improvement. You can be a worthy match for my daughter. There's a shortage of truly eligible young men at the moment, after all. You just need a little shaping up.
