Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Occasionally, Korra would stop by the football field after school just to watch practice - though perhaps "ogle" was a more appropriate word choice. She sat reclined on the bleachers, elbows behind her head as she watched jocks jogging back and forth on the field, throwing a pigskin in tight pants. Not a bad way to kill an afternoon at all. She knew a fair number of the players were taken, and she was herself, but hey - she could still appreciate an attractive young male, couldn't she?

Chouji notices Korra over at the side of the field when he stops to get a drink of water, and waves. "Hey! Are you here to see someone on the team, or just watching?"

[precipitous]

She waves back, grinning at him as she hangs over the railing. "Just watching. I hope you guys don't mind."

"Why would we? I doubt you're going to go telling all our plays to our opponents." He may not know Korra well enough to have reason to believe the best of her, but Chouji isn't very good at suspicion. He'll trust people until proven otherwise. Besides, Korra is some sort of cousin to Shikamaru, he's fairly certain. He comes a little closer so she doesn't have to shout.

"You're a football fan?"

[precipitous]

"I'm a sports fan," she clarifies. "Anything that involves competition, I'm there. You guys are pretty good this year."

"Do you play any, or do you appreciate them all from the bleachers?"

Chouji grins and nods acknowledgement of the compliment. "Thanks. The coaches and captain have been pushing pretty hard, so I'm glad it's paying off."

[precipitous]

"I play...more extreme sports." So much that she hadn't bothered to join any of the school teams. Maybe if she had, her attendance records wouldn't be so dismal.

"You really for the homecoming game tomorrow?"

That garners Korra a raised eyebrow as Chouji wonders what she means by that.

The homecoming game puts him back on even footing, though, and he nods again. "We'd better be! Not much time left to prepare." And Sasuke will be very grouchy if they lose.

Then he shifts back to the previous topic, still wondering, "What sort of extreme sports do you do?"

[precipitous]

"Glad to hear it." Korra may not have been the model student, but she liked it when her school kicked other schools' butts in sports.

Korra leans forward, a mischievous look about her. "Oh, you know, jumping off buildings, racing through backyards, street fighting...that sort of thing."

His eyes widen, and silence stretches for a few seconds before Chouji answers. He should have expected it, really, given what she said, but it comes as a surprise nonetheless.

"Take care of yourself. I bet the injury rate is a lot higher in those than in football."

[precipitous]

"Oh, don't worry. I'm very careful."

She's not.

"How'd you get started in those, anyway?"

She does sound a little more cocky than cautious.

[precipitous]

"Street gang." She cocked her head to the side.
