August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Yes, the drawn, tired and sick look is very fashionable this year, or so I've heard.

My mother raised me to never be afraid to speak my mind. I merely choose to interpret that liberally.

She's obviously also raised you with poor taste if you're going to be insulting my looks.

Is that a come on? I'm not insulting your looks, just the fact that you look... ill. Tired.

That depends on if you'd like it to be.

[He laughs, then frowns.] Do I really? I've just had a few late nights, recently. I've had a lot of work.

[He hasn't been able to sleep well. It's the time of year.]

Thrilled as I'm sure people would be if we got together, I'm actually seeing someone.

[He gives Loki a slightly worried look.]

Yeah, you do. You always have a lot of work and you don't look like this. When did you last eat.

Do I know this lucky man? I still haven't found someone to inflict myself upon.

[He shrugs.] I did have breakfast this morning. [And promptly vomited it back up, but we don't need to get into that.]

I doubt it. Are you really that desperate to settle down with someone?

[He gives Loki a sceptical look.]

Right. You do realise it's afternoon now? Late afternoon.

Desperate? God, Max, you are an asshole. I don't know why I talk to you, I really don't.

[He shrugs.] It was a big breakfast. And you know how it is when you're busy. Time just... escapes.

Because you're just as much of an asshole and I let you get away with it instead of looking disapproving or pitying.

[He says it in an utterly matter of fact way. It's the way he sees it anyway.]

Yeah, I do know that.

Let me get away with it? You encourage it.

Well, yeah. It's more fun that way. Entertaining.
