Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

It's easy, as long as you have a new fork that fits your bike. [A small grin.] You just have to undo the clamps. Hand me that torque wrench.

[precipitous]

[ She grabs the requested tool, handing it over. ]

[i_speak_softly]

[And Don undoes said clamps, making sure Korra can see what he's doing.]

See? No big deal.

[He pauses at the third and last clamp, gesturing for Korra to take the wrench. You do that and he'll catch.]

Just let her down easy.

[precipitous]

[ Oh! Her turn. Korra takes the wrench, easing up the clamp. ]

Like this?

[i_speak_softly]

Mm-hm.

[He keeps one hand on the bike and the other on the wheel assembly, watching Korra's work closely.]

[precipitous]

[ Korra lets the metal rest against the ground once she's undone the clamp completely. ] Okay, now what?

[i_speak_softly]

Now unscrew the other end.

[precipitous]

[ Okay, okay, unscrewing the other end... ]

[i_speak_softly]

[The fork slides out of its housing. Successfully removed!]

Then you just reverse the process to install the new one.

[precipitous]

[ She reaches for the new fork. ]

Should I, or...? [ She thinks she can handle it. ]

[i_speak_softly]

He's your customer.

[You sell it, you fix it.]

[precipitous]

[ Right, she sets the new fork in place, starting to redo the clamps. ]

Stop me if I start doing it wrong.

[i_speak_softly]

[He stops her immediately.]

It's backwards.

[precipitous]

- Oh. [ So she is! Korra grins sheepishly, turning the fork the other way. ] There we go.

[i_speak_softly]

[Much better. Don watches closely as Korra reconnects the parts.]

So, did you sell anything else I should know about?

[precipitous]

Uhuh. I guess I've been kind of distracted today.

[i_speak_softly]

[Raised brow. What other trouble have you been getting into?]

[precipitous]

Don't give me that look! It's just the homecoming dance. [ She says with a bit of a blush. ]

[i_speak_softly]

[Oho. Just this look until you spill it all.]

[precipitous]

What? I'm just looking forward to it, that's all.

[i_speak_softly]

Who are you going with?

[precipitous]

Uh...he's an upper-class guy...

[ Surprise. ]

[i_speak_softly]

Come on, Korra, who is it?

[precipitous]

Well...you know William Stark?

[i_speak_softly]

Not personally, but sure.

[Son of a rich inventor... how often Don wished he could trade lives with young William.]
