Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Oh you leave Keiko out of this. She's a good dog, and she was an excitable puppy.

[He lived with three much wilder dogs, one of whom had gotten so much mud on his window curtains that they needed to be dry-cleaned.

Barnaby sighed wistfully and stared out at the castle over the trees, watching the flags wave in the summer breeze.]

We were all pretty excitable, weren't we?

We were.

[She leans against him, resting her head on his shoulder. Like when they were kids, and used to go up on the roof of the house to avoid Father. Closing her eyes, she sighs as nostalgia sweeps away her thoughts. Had it really been that long ago? And were they really both married and planning to, or already moved out?

May as well drop the bombshell.]

Yuuna and I are planning into our own house soon. Once Hinata and Neji go off to college.

You are?

[He couldn't say he was terribly surprised. Although Yuuna kept her head down enough to not cause any problems with Father, the discontent still lingered in the house. It was uncomfortable at best.

He didn't blame them at all.]

Thank you for waiting for them. I'm not sure how they would fare in that house on their own...

Where are you thinking about moving to? Closer to the farm?

We are.

[He's right, there. Yuuna was good about staying out of trouble and keeping her head down. She was pretty great about just bearing with things too. Even if it was hard, they still had each other.]

And yeah, I couldn't just leave them.

[She smiles and leans forward, pointing to a house out on the northern edge of the historic district]

Actually we were looking at that one.

Out there?

[He followed the path with his eyes, gazing out over the trees at the building in the distance. It must have been over the river, further into the forested reaches of the town than most would bother going any longer. Barnaby smiled. It looked quite comfortable.]

It looks quiet. In a good way.

You know me, Bunny.

[She grinned, squeezing his arm a bit when she used his old nickname.]

I never wanted much out of life, just quiet. Father was the one with all the plans and you were the one with the ambition. For me, if I can just run things and sit out on the porch when it's raining playing checkers...I'll be happy.

[tsunderebunny]

[He smiled and squeezed back, suddenly hit by a wave of nostalgia at the nickname.]

Hm. I can see that. It suits you too.

[Like his ambition suited him she liked the low-key, but he needed to do something. It was why he was working on ideas to make the farmwork more efficient-- so it could be easier, less stressful, and allow more time for people to pursue what they loved.

Even if it was as simple as drinking lemonade and loving life.]
