Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Only maybe? I'd better work harder on making a good impression. [Nevermind that her impression was formed years ago. Chouji matches her teasing tone.] Seeing Shikamaru too would be great, but I'm here to see you.

[Chouji follows Makie's direction, joining her in the house.]

I brought dinner. [He grins] Maybe that will taste good enough to take care of making a better impression.

[Ohh, dinner. Dinner is always such a pain around here-- usually she hasn't enough appetite to work up the energy to cook it. It's a nice thought, even if it does make Makie feel uncomfortably too close to a charity case. But Chouji is sweet, and he's been friends with Shikamaru a long time.]

I've no doubt. Enough for us both, I hope. [She moves for the kitchen, pausing long enough to turn the music down so neither of them have to raise their voices to be heard.] But hey, cooking is always good for impressions. Have you tested out your cooking on Prim yet?

[Chouji figures that he lives on a farm where food is grown in the first place. He might as well share whatever happens to be ready with one or two people, especially since he loves food and doesn't mind cooking.]

I think I'd get hungry if I just sat here and watched you eat. Of course there's enough. [He chuckles at that question, ducking his head slightly.] I'm still not sure how I made a good impression on Prim. Not with cooking, although she's had a little of that this month.

Prim's a perceptive girl. She knows a decent catch when she sees one. [Well actually that may or may not be true, but Makie goes on the fact that (a) Prim is really intelligent, and (b) Chouji is like the sweetest teenager she knows. Seems legit to her.

She washes her hands in the kitchen, then pulls out plates and cutlery.] You want to do the honours?

[Or, well. It's a tactful way of not handling Chouji's food. Not until after he's taken a portion for himself, anyway.]

[Chouji knows better than to argue but blushes immediately at that, doing his best to hide it by keeping busy with the food. He's just as happy Makie made the request and gave him an excuse not to look right at her for a moment. Opening up what he brought, Chouji dishes out chicken, vegetables, and potatoes for both himself and Makie. He takes more for himself than he puts on her plate, but Chouji makes sure there's enough to constitute a real meal before he hands it over.]

I'm just glad she agrees with you.

Me too. [That looks delicious. She finds another unopened soda in the fridge, handing it over.] I know you'll do good by each other.

[Caution: shipper on deck. But the nature of the game here is not to embarrass the poor kid to hell, so she changes the subject.] Pepsi's okay, right? There's lemonade in there as well if you want it.
