Luceti Valley - The First Log

Who: Everyone
What: The start of a new experiment... or is it?
When: August 2nd - August 6th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

No, I don't believe it's come up since the last time we spoke. [He grins at her to show that he's joking.] You don't have to thank me. I know you would do the same for me if you could.

[A moment later he pulls into her driveway.] Do you need any help getting inside? Can I get you anything?
therewerefifty: (that's what I needed to hear)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-08-15 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness, no. [She waves him off on that score.] I'll be better after I've had a chance to sit and rest. Though you're welcome to come inside for a drink if you have the time and inclination. [He was on his way home, so she's not sure. Well, that and being ill is kind of a drawback for good company.]

[He seems to consider her invitation for a moment and glances at his watch.] I can probably come in for a few minutes. I left a little early today so Peggy isn't expecting me back for a little while yet.
therewerefifty: (impersonatin sanji don't mind me)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-08-18 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
By all means. [She'll never turn down company, even if for a few minutes. She's still tired from the walk, but having a lift the rest of the way at least means she's much less out of breath. Makie gets out, fishing her keys out of her pocket.] I've got tea or soda or beer. You can take your pick. How is Peggy?
neversurrender: (grin)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-08-20 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[He gets out of his car as well and follows her to her door.] A soda would fine, thank you. Peggy is doing well. You should come by sometime soon. I'm sure she'd enjoy having some company over.
therewerefifty: (ah...yes. that.)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-08-22 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles briefly, but wonders if that really is a good idea. Still.] After I get the car back, then. I'll stop by.

...make yourself at home. I'll be right back. [She steps into the kitchen, raiding the fridge for a can of lemonade, and pours herself a glass of water.]
neversurrender: (playing it coy)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-08-23 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. I'll let her know to expect you. [He takes a seat in the nearest chair, stretching his legs out in front of him. He'd been on his feet for most of the day so it was nice to sit back and relax for a moment.]

Take your time.
therewerefifty: (turning back)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-08-24 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
[She's only too happy to sink into the chair opposite when she returns, reaching out to place the lemonade on the coffee table.] There. Thanks again.

How are the classes going?
neversurrender: (bashful grin)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-08-27 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sits up and grabs his lemonade, taking a long drink.]

Class are going well. There are always a few that like to dig holes for themselves. You know the one, they don't do their homework or participate in class, but when grades get posted they wonder why they're failing. This year I only have about three of them. For that I'm grateful.
therewerefifty: (not so bloody relief)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-08-28 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Three! That's a pretty hopeful number, all things considered. [She grins over her water.] I hope their list of excuses is just as entertaining as ever. My last semester, I had one boy tell me he accidentally mailed his homework to his uncle up north.

Well, there might be a few more come the end of the semester. [He laughs.] Most of them haven't gotten too creative. There is one boy who told me he that their family had a tradition of brushing off work and homework for an entire weekend once a year. The unfortunate part is that the weekend they picked happened to be right before an important essay was due.
therewerefifty: (let's try this again)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-09-01 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear. How tragically inconvenient for him. [Schoolkid stories are the best.] I'm sure his parents will support this story of traditions if they're asked.

[Or not.]

Actually his mother was so embarrassed when I called that when I was on the phone with his mother I could hear her yelling at him in the distance in between talking to me. Kind of made me feel sorry for him.

[Makie chuckles.] Poor kid. Could he look you in the face the next day?
neversurrender: ([PB] smile like you understand the refer)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-09-04 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually I think he skipped class so he could avoid it. I felt sorry for him so I marked down that he attended class. I didn't want his mother yelling at him again.
therewerefifty: (that's what I needed to hear)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2013-09-05 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's pretty nice of you. I hope he appreciates it.
neversurrender: ([PB] =|)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2013-09-07 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hard to say. I think he probably just blames me. Which is fair.
