Luceti Valley - The First Log

Summary: Luceti has become an idyllic and peaceful 50s-esque village. The first few days are just business as usual, right?

August 1st had seemed like an ordinary day in Luceti. But late in the evening, for those night owls who had not turned in yet, they were witness to strange fluctuations in the barrier. Beautiful, really, almost like Luceti had received its own 'Northern Lights', even though it seemed to come from the far east, across the ocean. This ominous light show lasted for all of fifteen minutes before it ceased all together. Skimming the ocean waters, a horde of cultists entered Luceti, cloaked by darkness. Upon reaching the entrance to the tunnels, their leader stepped inside and was followed one by one by his fellow cultists. When the last had entered, the tunnel entrance closed. Across the mountains, the entrance to the tunnels in the village did the same.

Midnight passed without incident, but by three in the morning, the change suddenly came. Minds were altered, forms were changed, and buildings sprang from nowhere.

Much later, on August 2nd, morning settled on a changed village, the new mayor made his way to his mansion with his pair of adorable dobermans at either side of him. The sun shined bright. It was a good day to be a Lucetian.

Note: There will be a stand alone log for the homecoming dance. There will be another log for the second stage of the event.

Not easy at all. [There were numerous staff members for watching over the "patients," as well as ... asylum guards.] I have no point of reference, but ... this is a very busy place, for a mental facility. Even for a city of this size, this seems like a lot of a guards.

[He makes the observation because he doesn't want to seem too uncomfortable.] Have they allowed you to contact anyone outside?

[Then she looks at him, the slightest upward tilt of her head to make it clear that she is desperate to believe that about herself. That she is asking, not declaring, as hard as she tries to hide the question mark behind the edge in her voice.]

No, I can't talk to anybody. There's nobody there. ...That kid probably doesn't wanna see his mom like this.

[He wants to get her focus off of anything that will make her sound so desperate, panicked, and lost. It takes him a moment, based off of her details so far.]

Do you recognize him? The boy who is supposed to be your son in this Shift?

No. Not at all. He must be really new. [Was there anyone really new anymore?] What...why are you here?

A similar reason -- my "son" had me committed, or something to that effect. He didn't look like he was expecting them to drag me away as they did.

[...] Freyjadour is my "son" under this Shift. So I don't believe he intended this to happen.

[What he had seen of Freyjadour's personality the last few days was similar enough to his normal self for him to come to that conclusion.]

[Being dragged away. She remembers that, fresh and vivid, and the look on her "kid"'s face as she fought to get free.]

At least Frey's somebody you know. [It's shaky and lined with bad memories.]

I suppose. [Though he relents, he knows that it will likely weigh heavily on Freyjadour whenever this Shift effect was nullified. ...However they managed to nullify it.] We need to stay focused. Whenever possible, we should meet. Discuss what we observe here.

[They would inevitably be split up and returned to their rooms or sent to "therapy sessions" or for medicine, but maybe they would be lucky to have more times like this to talk.]

I don't know if I can do this for much longer. [Keep hold of herself. Go through another "treatment" session. Her throat goes dry as the far door opens again, though nothing of consequence happens.]
