Luceti Valley - The Second Log
Who: Everyone
What: The second part of the experiment. Things begin to unravel.
When: August 7th - August 10th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Check out the mod post for more. This covers Day 6-9!
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.
Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.
Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...
On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.
Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! If you have questions, direct them here.

Day 9
Th-there's no way I can do that! [Nevermind that his muscles can probably only barely support his own weight, if that -- AU or not, he still has a somewhat unhealthy fear of heights.]
[But perhaps it's that fear that pushes him forward -- and makes his body remember something that his mind still hasn't.] Just... put me down, I have a different idea!
Day 9
[But there was no time. Cliff could either throw the young man up on the roof and take on the mob himself like a madman, or just trust a yong stranger who was so nervous it was almost tangible.
Cliff glanced over and saw the look in his eyes -- that was enough.
He dropped down back onto the ground and stared at the cops like they were pesky gnats. In a way, they almost were. The young man was gently set onto his feet before Cliff drew himself up to his full height.]
Do your thing, kid. I've got ya.
Day 9
[He raises his hand up into the air, the words for the incantation coming to him from seemingly nowhere. As he recites, the area around them begins to glow, and a large glyph appears on the ground, extending far beyond them and reaching nearly all the officers in the area who aren't still in their vehicles.]
[And those that are turn the cars around and try to flee. No doubt they've already seen attacks like this in the city. But in Ion's case -- Daathic fonic artes weren't something to joke about. Especially not an uncontrolled one like this.]
It ends with this! Akashic Torment!
[As he brings his fist down to the ground, the energy collected around the glyph springs out in a bright flash, striking every officer in reach. The ones nearest the center are down immediately, knocked unconscious from the blast. Of those who remain conscious towards the out edges, they too turn and try to escape, perhaps fearing a second attack after that.]
[When the light clears, Ion is still kneeling on the ground, breathing heavily.]
Day 9
A small part in the back of his mind clicked, unconsciously remembering not one but two young people, not much older than this one, unleashing a blinding amount of power in moments of extreme distress. Even the glyph, the symbol was strikingly similar in theory. It was as if he had seen this many times before, although he remembered none of it.
Cliff moved the moment he saw the stranger at the center of it all, dropping into a crouch beside him and offering a stabilizing arm. The police may have been running, but that didn't mean that no one else had noticed.]
Hey. Hey. [His voice was low, but insistent.] Can you stand?
[They had to leave. Now. There would be time for questions later.]
Day 9
...I bought you some time. Please... escape while you still...
[His eyes slip out of focus, and he's unconscious before he even hits the ground.]
Day 9
[Cliff caught him before he touched the ground with the ease and reflexes of a man who's seen this situation before. Frustrated as he was, this was no time to mess around with anything that could pose a risk to the young man's safety. His first instinct was to check the vitals: breathing, heart rate, temperature, and possible injuries had to be addressed before he was satisfied, but he was no medic. A regular guy from the street was by no means trained enough to handle an emergency like this.
But his gut told him to escape. He had a hunch that others would be on their way, with weapons that were far stronger in tow. Cliff gently lifted the young man up and took off.
He would come back and fight later, but the safety of another came first.]
Day 9
[Wherever Cliff takes him, he'll remain that way for a good while. By the time he's laid down somewhere to rest, his heart rate will have slowed to a less worrisome speed, and his breathing will have returned to normal as well. It'll be at least a good 30 minutes before he'll regain consciousness to any notable degree.]
[But thankfully, no one will be chasing after them. Not yet, at least. Not so long as they think the two of them might be capable of pulling a stunt like that again.]
Day 9
It's a messy garage, mostly. There's cars and drafting materials and tools that a mechanic would make daily use of, but also space. Cliff easily cleared off an old couch in the back room for Ion to rest on until he recovered. The fever was worrisome, but there was no way that Cliff would trust a hospital so long as the authorities themselves couldn't be trusted.
He wouldn't leave the room so long as Ion slept. He instead lounged in a sticky plastic chair near a window, occasionally peeking out through the blinds for a sign of threat.]
Day 9
[He spots Cliff and recognizes him as the man who tried to help him earlier, but... what happened after that?]
A-Ah... sir? Were you the one who brought me here?
Day 9
Why wouldn't I bring you here? I'm surprised you're awake already after that mess in the street! You really know how to make a guy worry, you know.
Day 9
[He brings a hand up to his head, but then brings it down again, staring at it.]
Was... I the one who did that?
Day 9
Yeah, you did. It was pretty impressive too. You took 'em all out.
Day 9
[Like he'd done it before. But that's not where his mind goes. He looks back up at Cliff, realizing this is... probably a delicate question, but:]
I... I didn't... kill anyone, did I?
[It probably would have been difficult to tell, but he really did only know them unconscious.]
Day 9
As far as I can tell, no one died.
[He knelt down so that he was at eye level, equalizing their standing in the conversation.]
Don't worry so much about not remembering. It was a mess back there, and it's probably for the better that you don't.
[In some ways, the event may have been too traumatic for the kid...]
Day 9
And I'm sorry for being so uncooperative before. It's been... a really strange week.
Day 9
Don't worry about it. At least you didn't get picked up back there, right? That...could'a been bad.
Day 9
Day 9
...
You feeling okay?
Day 9
[Which might explain why he looks so pale... or at least, more so than he usually is.]
Day 9
[But still, the kid's health worried him. There was no guarantee that he would come out scott free if he was taken in again.]
If push comes to shove, I can carry you out. No problem.
Day 9
[Nevermind that Ion weighs about as much as a bag of feathers and really shouldn't be any trouble to carry.]
Day 9
[Seriously. This kid was way too polite.]
Just take it. It's only if you start having problems anyway, so it's no biggie. Your health is way more important here.
Day 9
[He'll have to get use to that politeness because it's not going anywhere.]
When all this over, I'll have to find some way to repay you for saving me. It's the least I can do...
Day 9
Nah, you don't need to go doing anything like that. [You're embarrassing him with the politeness.] I just don't like seeing things I don't like, is all. And, I don't like seeing people get hurt when it's not needed.
