Luceti Valley - The Second Log
Who: Everyone
What: The second part of the experiment. Things begin to unravel.
When: August 7th - August 10th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Check out the mod post for more. This covers Day 6-9!
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.
Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.
Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...
On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.
Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! If you have questions, direct them here.

Somehow, he knew in his heart that it wasn't a threat.
Words weren't needed by the time Barnaby met Yu's gaze. The two of them were strangely in tandem, as if both of them were familiar with working beside others. He nodded in thanks before he took off, leaping into action to take the cops down.]
no subject
[That was probably why all the creature did was reach out, calling down lightning to force the police to scatter.]
no subject
no subject
I don't know how well I can hold his strength back. I don't want to kill them.
[He glanced back at Barnaby, hoping he'd have some ideas before they were shot.]
no subject
He nodded and launched off with a flurry of kicks, clearing a pathway through the crowd if they could move.]
Yu! Let's go!
[He spoke in earnest, not wanting him to get hurt in any way. The creature behind him...Barnaby wasn't sure what it would do.]
no subject
[Yu screamed as he clutched at his chest, falling to his knees. It felt more like he had been the one shot, but there was no bullet nor any blood; but damn did that hurt.]
no subject
The bullet came from a different direction-- his ears didn't lie, but Yu's cry told him something different. Clearly there was something amiss, but there was no time to think about reacting.
Barnaby just moved.
Whirling around with startling ease, Barnaby made a full turn and launched himself at Yu. The young man was astonishingly light.
Maybe he was just that strong.
He cast a look at the creature in the space of a heartbeat, as if to see what it would do.
Then. He jumped.]
no subject
[He looked up at the large creature, meeting its gaze, like it was waiting for his command to help them. Yu swallowed, knowing this creature was a part of him... something that had come from deep within himself. He just couldn't remember; but how could he forget something like this? Especially when he could just vaguely remember...]
[Yu flung a hand out toward the creature as he could feel Barnaby shifting under him.]
Izanagi!
[As Barnaby jumped, Izanagi swept the flat of its sword around in a wide arc, passing under them harmlessly and knocking aside the cops.]
no subject
Izanagi...
[The word was barely uttered, but it was a name that he prayed he wouldn't forget in the inevitable fallout of this battle. Like so many things that were being unearthed in the minutes and hours that passed, he wanted to engrave both the creature and the young man into his mind as something to remember and follow up with later. Documentation had to be made, memos needed to be hidden from prying eyes to protect their minds from any more abuse--
He didn't stop to question this strange pattern of thinking that felt almost normal to him, nor was he in the least bit worried about the impossible height that they had reached with a single leap. The cops wouldn't have been able to follow them, and Izanagi's blade wasn't even a concern.
In a strange way, this was 'normal' for Barnaby.
They landed on the roof of a nearby complex with the practiced grace and ease of a trapeze artist. The steep slope and narrow peak weren't even obstacles for Barnaby as he took off in a dead run.
The only thought in his mind was to get Yu out of the fray, just in case something happened again.]
no subject
[He clung to Barnaby's back as he took off, not objecting to getting as far from that situation as possible. Besides, he had a lot on his mind after something like that happened. Just what was he really? It's not like randomly summoning monsters and knowing their names was normal; heck, it wasn't even normal in the comics he liked.]
[Just what was he really?]
[It was a long moment before Yu finally spoke up, his grip at Barnaby's back tightening slightly.]
Hey... I don't think they could follow us like this.
no subject
Perhaps the police were right in trying to take the both of them in. It was clear that they both had some kind of extraordinary talent.]
I don't think so either...
[But he could still hear them, distantly. It was weird.]
no subject
[Yu paused, letting out a breath.]
Can we stop and... can you put me down?
no subject
Uhm. Right.
[He set Yu down on his feet and looked at him in mild confusion.]
...what happened out there?
no subject
[Yu looked down at his hand, like it was the one responsible for summoning Izanagi. That creature... it had felt so natural and normal, more normal than anything that had happened in the past few days. Why...?]
What about you?
no subject
[There were a few other times, but there were limits. Once the glow faded, he wouldn't be able to have the same strength again for a long period.
He hasn't bothered to keep track of the time yet.]
no subject
[Izanagi hadn't felt wrong, though... it felt like more of an extension of himself, a part of him realized... and more than that; he couldn't quite put it to words that could describe it well enough.]
no subject
[But, like Yu, the surge of power-- and the anxiety that went with it-- were more familiar than anything else he'd seen so far.
It was something.]
no subject
What do we do now?
[He stood up a little straighter, felt a little more confident. This felt normal.]
The police will be after us once they see us.
no subject
[It was all he could say, as he had no particular answer about what they should do at that point. The blue that clung to him ruined all possibility of escape, but it was also his personal trump card--
He knew in his bones that he had a distinct limit, and that it wasn't far.]
We should keep moving, and decide what to do once we're safe.
[They needed to move, or else they wouldn't be able to get down...]
no subject
[...he's going to get tossed over his shoulder again, isn't he?]
no subject
Instead Barnaby lifts Yu bridal-style and leaps from the roof...and touched down on the ground like a practiced gymnast.
Embarrassed yet?]
no subject
[Yu let out an indignant squeak as he was lifted up, his whole face flushing red as they took off. Was this really necessary?!]
no subject
Despite Yu's embarrassment, they landed on the roof of a car with the barest of damage and none to their person. It was a simple thing, one that felt wholly natural to Barnaby. Like the odd powers he was discovering, it felt right.
He gently set Yu down on top of the car and studied him, arms akimbo and head tilted in curiosity.]
Are you feeling better?
no subject
[Yu's answer was a bit clipped and forced, but he was telling the truth. He was perfectly fine... you know, except for his pride.]
no subject
I won't be able to do that again for a while. We should keep moving.
