Luceti Valley - The Second Log

Who: Everyone
What: The second part of the experiment. Things begin to unravel.
When: August 7th - August 10th
Where: Luceti itself
Summary: Check out the mod post for more. This covers Day 6-9!
Rating: Varies with thread. Please move explicit stuff to appointments post with appropriate warnings.

Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.

Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...

On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.

Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! If you have questions, direct them here.

[...yeah, he shouldn't have expected their father would explain any of that.]

Yeah, and they'd probably cost as much as my rent. I live down here, if no one told you.

...seriously?

[She's not sure what's more shocking: that the son of a man as wealthy as Mr. Stark was living out in the slums of Luceti, or that she's never seen him before. Or maybe she has and just never paid him much attention?]

But... why? I mean, if Mr. Stark can afford a house up on snob lake, can't he afford to give you a hand up too?

[Snob Lake. Okay, that makes him grin.]

He never bothered when I was growing up. [They were middle class then, but to him it makes little difference. Money was never what he wanted anyways.] I'm not gonna take his handouts now that I'm old enough to fend for myself, just so he feels better.
magicalesbian: Kari (Are you sure about this?)

Wow. I had no idea...

[Gosh, for all the effort she was putting in for trying to get along with the brothers she lived with, maybe she was better off connecting with the one she didn't?]

Guess that kinda puts us in the same boat then, huh? I mean, aside from the last part. I'm not in any condition to be looking after myself, but... well. Up until last week, this is where I was living, too.

Seriously? [His interest looks piqued.] I mean. I'd heard you came from outside the aristocrat circle, but I didn't think that put you around Lowtown.
magicalesbian: Kari (I think they're making out back there.)

Well, yeah. I mean, it was me and my mom growing up, and she never had much luck in holding down a job for too long. And to be honest? I wouldn't have taken Mr. Stark's offer to move in if I didn't kinda need it.

[Which is to say she was kinda sorta homeless, but she'd rather avoid spelling that out if she could avoid it.]

[...he feels kind of bad now, for what he'd originally thought when Nel told him the news. He can't judge her for that.]

I'd offer you a place, if my wife and I weren't struggling to make ends meet. if you ever need a break from Snob Lake, though, you can come stay the night with us.

Oh! I wouldn't even dream of imposing on you! Sure, it's kind of uncomfortable in that house and all, but it's still... you know. Better than the street?

[...]

...that probably sounds a little rude.

["At least it's better than the street" is probably not what Mrs. Stark was going for when she showed Kari her room there.]

Tch. As if. Those stiffs redefine the meaning of rude. You'd have to go up several levels of snobbish behavior before you'd sound like them.
