Post-Event Blues
Who: Everybody, everybody!
What: The battle is won. Now what?
When: The eleventh, twelfth, and onward
Where: Luceti
Summary: With Zompano dead and the cultists routed, Luceti is restored. Kind of.
Rating: F for Feels
On the eleventh, things were slowly breaking down. Memories of their true lives were breaking through. The village, scarred by the battle with the cultists, began to rebuild itself. Community buildings that had vanished were returned to their rightful places. The battle dome was uncovered from the earth that had covered it. Hundreds and hundreds of fake homes slowly faded away. Paved roads gave way to trees and grass. It was an incredible sight for anyone who was willing to sit aroun and watch it happen.
Things wouldn't be easy for the villagers, though. The memories perpetuated by the last ten days would not be easily removed. The feelings and hatreds it had created would take time to conquer and remove. Perhaps, in a way, that was Zompano's nastiest trick of all. The village itself may heal from his invasion, but it would take far more than a few Shifts to fix the people left behind.
Towards the end of the day, their wings returned. Much like some of the buildings, they seemed to just reappear, as if they had never been gone. Their barcodes became visible again as a singular reminder that they were, ultimately, just the property of another entity who as a whole were not much better than Count Zompano.
By the twelfth, the village looked as though nothing had ever happened. Sure, the contents of buildings might have been messed up or destroyed during the battles, but things were otherwise as they were supposed to be. The night before, people would have had to find their old beds to go sleep in, as they no longer possessed the old ones granted to them in another life.
The village was peaceful.
Modly Note: That wraps up the event. As noted in the prose above, you have the option to play up the after effects of the event more than in other ones. While it won't have the same impact universally, the Shift was constructed in such a way that people may have difficulty shaking off the emotions they developed during the event. In effect, it was a cruel send off to Luceti so they would have to deal with the loathing and hatred that came with the less desirable parts of it. Of course, that means the feelings of familial bonds will also persist for awhile as well. It's up to you, as players, to decide how much or little to play with it!

August 13th
So he knocks on the door, hoping one of Saori's roommates will let him in to see her. "I brought dinner!"
He brought enough for anyone in the household who's hungry, but Chouji's intended target tonight is Saori.
August 13th
"Hello Chouji. It's good to see you."
August 13th
"It's good to see you too, although I wish the circumstances were a little different. I don't know whether Seventh Heaven usually delivers, but it does today."
He looks at Saori for a minute before he asks, "How're you holding up?"
August 13th
Honestly, she's missed the cooking there, and it's only been a few days. But with her legs in the shape they were, it'd take a tremendous expenditure of energy to float down there. And that needed to be saved, for Hinata.
"I've been better," she laughs, "But I've also been much worse."
August 13th
Chouji nods, frowning momentarily before summoning a smile back to his face. "Well, I'm glad you can laugh about it, anyway, if not for the fact that you've been worse before. I hope your legs heal quickly."
He isn't sure he ought to ask about the rest of it. For Chouji, the conflicting memories and the mixed up emotions are far more jarring than physical injury would be.
August 13th
"They'll be fine. A few weeks at most, with the barrier mucking up my body. Nothing too serious, just enough to keep me stuck in a chair till the weather starts to change. Which...I'll admit I'm not looking forward to. I hate winter."
It's small talk to avoid the real problems, of course. The jumble of emotions about Barnaby, Neji, and Hinata are a real...thrill.
August 13th
He nods at that, considering the second part of it. "Right, summer storms are your element. Does winter do anything to hurt or limit you, or is it just that summer's much more comfortable?"

Speaking of sharing meals, he takes some food for himself, joining Saori in eating.
August 13th
She tucks in with him, chewing thoughtfully for a moment.
"Do you have a favorite season?"

Oh my goodness I can't resist I'm sorry
Her face lights up at the sight of him-- and then obvious confusion clouds her features.] Chouji...?
Never be sorry
"I was bringing dinner to Saori after I heard. There's plenty, though. Would you like some more of my cooking?"
no subject
"I'd love some. Come in, by all means.
Saori's up on the roof. I can take you there, if you like."
no subject
Chouji isn't actually sure where the kitchen is, so he'll let Makie lead the way.
no subject
The kitchen isn't so far away. She speaks as she heads there. "How are ...things? Now that they're settling back to normal, I mean."
no subject
Chouji sighs and summons up a smile. "It's been a really long day, but I'm alright. I talked to Luke yesterday and Prim this morning." Mostly alright, at least. If Chouji were completely honest, a couple of things he's worrying about now have nothing to do with that other life and the fallout from it. He hesitates for a moment before going ahead and asking, "And you?"
no subject
"I'm doing all right. I think... I didn't mind so much. That other life." The smile fades somewhat. "Although I haven't talked to some of my other 'family'. But I did get to speak to Shikamaru, at least."
no subject
no subject
"You shinobi really are everywhere. I didn't know that. But I've met quite a few of you already."
no subject
"There are a lot of us. Which ones have you met?"
no subject
"Shikamaru, of course. Lee and his...teacher." Father? They look similar, but she can't be sure. "Tenten. Temari. Konan." Is she missing anyone? Probably. She smiles. "And of course, you."
For real this time.
"There are actually quite a few more of us. I'm pretty sure Luceti has taken more from my world than any other." That's an interesting thought, and not a particularly reassuring one. Thus far, they've been lucky with enemy nins. Itachi, Konan, and Nagato are not actively seeking to harm anyone. And Sasuke comes from a time when he supposedly bears no ill will either. Things could get messy very quickly if different people, or people from different times, were brought to Luceti. No sense worrying now, though. Chouji is just grateful he and his teammates are together.
