Post-Event Blues

Who: Everybody, everybody!
What: The battle is won. Now what?
When: The eleventh, twelfth, and onward
Where: Luceti
Summary: With Zompano dead and the cultists routed, Luceti is restored. Kind of.
Rating: F for Feels

On the eleventh, things were slowly breaking down. Memories of their true lives were breaking through. The village, scarred by the battle with the cultists, began to rebuild itself. Community buildings that had vanished were returned to their rightful places. The battle dome was uncovered from the earth that had covered it. Hundreds and hundreds of fake homes slowly faded away. Paved roads gave way to trees and grass. It was an incredible sight for anyone who was willing to sit aroun and watch it happen.

Things wouldn't be easy for the villagers, though. The memories perpetuated by the last ten days would not be easily removed. The feelings and hatreds it had created would take time to conquer and remove. Perhaps, in a way, that was Zompano's nastiest trick of all. The village itself may heal from his invasion, but it would take far more than a few Shifts to fix the people left behind.

Towards the end of the day, their wings returned. Much like some of the buildings, they seemed to just reappear, as if they had never been gone. Their barcodes became visible again as a singular reminder that they were, ultimately, just the property of another entity who as a whole were not much better than Count Zompano.

By the twelfth, the village looked as though nothing had ever happened. Sure, the contents of buildings might have been messed up or destroyed during the battles, but things were otherwise as they were supposed to be. The night before, people would have had to find their old beds to go sleep in, as they no longer possessed the old ones granted to them in another life.

The village was peaceful.

Modly Note: That wraps up the event. As noted in the prose above, you have the option to play up the after effects of the event more than in other ones. While it won't have the same impact universally, the Shift was constructed in such a way that people may have difficulty shaking off the emotions they developed during the event. In effect, it was a cruel send off to Luceti so they would have to deal with the loathing and hatred that came with the less desirable parts of it. Of course, that means the feelings of familial bonds will also persist for awhile as well. It's up to you, as players, to decide how much or little to play with it!

"Haha, well, no they're not, but all the sleazy ones are." She'd meant it more as a stereotype, and she hadn't meant to be offensive. So she nudges Saori, smiling brightly to let her know it didn't apply to whoever her friend was thinking of. She imagined it was probably her ex-boyfriend, she doesn't see who else she could be so quietly defending.

"I don't think...I've met anyone like that before." Saori keeps mumbling as she eats her soup, eyes glued to the screen. She knows Yuuna didn't mean Clint, or anyone she knew. "Not since that time out west. But those people were stupid, and now they're dead. You don't know any sleazy men, do you darling?"

"I met some in college. It was sort of hard not to meet any." All that drinking she did ended up with meeting a few that were less than stellar individuals. "But trust me, they never were friends. It was mostly at parties that I ran into them. After a while I got really good at avoiding boys like them."

"Good. I don't think I'd like to meet people like this character." She wrinkles her nose in distaste. "I suppose it's good that I never went to college, or I might have. And the one time I did meet creepy people like that I killed them. I can't imagine that would go well in any modern age, really."

That makes her laugh. "No, they'd try to throw you in prison so fast if you decided to kill every creep you met on the street! Those boys were just boys still, no older than twenty-two or twenty-three in most cases. And they really weren't the bad ones, it was the younger ones you had to watch out for."

"Operative word being try," Saori replies with a smirk as she finishes her soup. "but if you say they didn't bother you, then that's alright. But why the younger ones? What's different about them?"

"I just found the older ones got some sense knocked into them by that time. You know, a lot of them were in fraternities and by the time they were ready to graduate, the members who were older than them actually taught them something. Not that it was always the case of course," she says, laughing about the memories, "but alcohol makes some of them a little more wild. The younger they were, the more prone to stupid antics they were. I don't think half of them even knew how to talk to a girl!"

It was college. Now that she was older, it really wasn't a big deal, even if it was awkward back then. Something to look back and laugh about.
windandrain: (Let me rest)

"Well so long as they never hurt you," Saori nods, starting on her rice. "I don't think I could let them get away with that, even if it was a long time ago. You know me, I'm just a little bit overprotective of my darling."

Smiling, she leans against Yuuna's shoulder, eyes flickering back to the screen.

"So, is there any reason his hair shines like that?"

"No, they were sleazy, not violent. I was fine. I know you're protective of me, so maybe it's good that you weren't around. I'm afraid you might of killed a few of them for being especially rude!" She pats Saori's hair, running her hand through it.

"I don't know, maybe he uses a really expensive shampoo. Or maybe it's a wig. I think she's got a wig on, that hair is too styled to be anything else. I mean, it just looks fake, don't you think?"

Smiling sweetly, she catches Yuuna's hand and pulls it down, giving it a kiss. "It's probably good, you're right."

She considers the movie for a moment, the actresses hair in particular.

"It looks like it's made of plastic. Hair shouldn't look like that..."

"Plus it's kind of ugly." She sticks her tongue out at it. She knows it's just part of the character's fake persona, but still. "Couldn't they of picked a better hairstyle? Promise me you'll never do your hair like that, okay? I'll never forgive you if you do!"
windandrain: (Surely you jest)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-09-12 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why...would I do that?" Saori looks to Yuuna, then back at the screen. "I'm not blond, or a sex-fiend. That's something only an American would want..."

[personal profile] sun_showers 2013-09-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess I didn't think about that. They are sort of gross, aren't they? I wonder if McDonald's will take over their country, or Wal-Mart. Or both. Then they can be large and in charge, to say the least." Well, she thinks it's a funny joke.
windandrain: (eh?)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-09-12 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who, Americans? Or blond sex-fiends?" Saori looks a bit puzzled.

[personal profile] sun_showers 2013-09-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
That makes her start giggling. "Americans dear, blond sex-fiends live everywhere! And who'd want to have sex with some six-hundred pound woman?"
windandrain: (Neat!)

[personal profile] windandrain 2013-09-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess you're right. There are blond sex-fiends in every country. And disgustingly fat women too. But I think if this one didn't have the hair she'd look...decent?"
