Thrill Land

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-28 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Spirit seems almost startled by Spock's sudden appearance, he was so fixated on watching the cart ahead of him dash past at high speeds, the people sitting inside screaming in terror.

...was this some kind of torture? At the sound of his name, Eley tries to pry his eyes away from what he's seeing and look to his friend instead.]

Spock... forgive me, I was not paying attention. Is everything all right?
spohkh: (smirk)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-28 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock almost smiles at his friend.]

Indeed, everything is quite well. Have you ever been on one of these machines?
winds_voice: (Blank)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-28 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head.]

I have not come across anything like this before. I am not sure if I understand what their purpose is. Why are people willingly attempting to do something that could endanger them like this? That makes them so afraid? Is it something the Malnosso are doing to them?
spohkh: (Talking)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-28 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Negative. From what I am aware, these machines... or rollercoasters... are a sought out entertainment. Giving the riders a rush of adrenaline and other chemicals that apparently equals 'fun'.

Do you wish to ride one?
winds_voice: (Dark Thinking)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-28 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[There was that word again - 'fun'. So humans found it fun to terrify themselves? Eley had always thought that to feel fear meant they would try to escape, not endure.

Honestly, Eley was rather reluctant to try it for himself. Though he had only recently come to know fear, he didn't especially want to make it any more potent.

On the other hand... he wanted to have fun.]

Perhaps if we can find one a little less intimidating, I will try it at least once.
spohkh: (Asking a question)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-28 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, it is always wise to 'start small'.

[Spock starts to walk... watching the screaming crowd.]

I must admit, I never understood this form of entertainment...
winds_voice: (Gathering Clouds)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-28 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I would assume to do something so reckless and frightening would be something most humans would avoid, not seek. It does not make sense to me either... but perhaps all will become clear if we try it for ourselves. After all, I barely had a concept of 'fun' when I first arrived in Luceti. It seems there are even more ways to achieve it than I first thought.

[Whether or not they were wise ways to look into, he wouldn't be sure until he took the plunge. He walks with Spock and tries to keep an eye out for a relatively tame rollercoaster, though many of them still look fast and risky in is eyes.

...and then he spots the Orbiter and has to stop to take a look at the giant catapault.]

This seems rather different to the others.
spohkh: (I am Content)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-28 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock assess the ride, curious as to its design. It looks almost like a large arachnid.]

Shall we give it a try?

[Spock is actually game for once. He's curious, and if he can handle a starship, surely this won't be difficult.]
winds_voice: (More Thought Required)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-29 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Instinct tells him not to, because it's a huge unknown machine and Eley really has no idea what to expect from it. Curiosity on the other hand makes him wonder if it might be worth a try, just for the experience. And besides he was with someone he trusted, right? Surely Spock would know whether or not it was worth trying.

The Spirit gives a nod, joining the winding queue.]

I hope that we will not regret it...
spohkh: Epic pose is epic (Poser)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-29 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt that we will. Every experience is considered a learning one, and therefore should not be regretted.

[Glass half-full this one.]

Are you apprehensive?
winds_voice: (Looking Away)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-29 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eley really wants to believe you Spock, but he's honestly not so sure. Still, it seems that he'll have to go ahead with the decision now. The queue is long and people are already piling up behind them. No way out!]

I suppose I am... I am not exactly sure what to expect. Once we are on that machine, I do not believe there will be any turning back. Perhaps I would not be having second thoughts if this were not a place modelled by the Malnosso. I do not trust them... and I do not know why they have brought us here.
spohkh: Epic pose is epic (Poser)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-29 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, I am... rather dubious as well. On the other hand, they have been known to send us to places that were for our benefit in the past. Perhaps this is just another one of those times.

[Usually Spock isn't this positive about a situation, and is known for questioning every single detail to death...

...but, Ka'adith. What is, is.]
winds_voice: (Distant)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-29 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if it is for our benefit, I hope they do not expect this to change my mind about what has happened. If this is a... reward for the decision made, then really I should have no part in this.

[He sighs, but continues progressing with the queue regardless of his reservations about this whole affair.]

Now though, it is too late. In that case, I will not regret my decision. I will learn from it instead. This is for us, not for them.

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-30 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Spock hums in agreement.

Oh look, do you see that? They're now at the front of the line, and being told that they can go to a set of seats.
The Vulcan pulls the harness over his shoulders.]

A very curious method. Much like archaic space shuttles.

[You ready for this Eley?]
winds_voice: (What?)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-30 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Space shuttles?

[He questions, pulling the harness over his own shoulders after they've taken a seat. He knew nothing about the ability to traverse space via man-made machines of course. Did that mean that this... thing was going to send them there? Was that not dangerous?

...oh god, now he feels trapped. This is not good at all, not ready, nope.]
spohkh: (Oh Hai)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-30 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Too late.

The ride starts, spinning and turning as the machine takes them up and down. The lights whirl by them as the speeds increase, bringing their seats higher, the ride's music blasting in their ears.]
winds_voice: (Gathering Clouds)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-30 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh god... suddenly they start moving and at first Eley doesn't mind, he can go with it. But then the ride spins faster, the music and lights assaulting them from all directions and the ride soon becomes uncomfortable for the Spirit. Eley can hear the screams of the other passengers around them and wonders how exactly this is supposed to be a good thing.

...but before he could dwell on that thought for much longer, the capsule they're sitting in is fired up into the air at great speed, like a giant slingshot and it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of stopping.

Eley loved to fly and the height really didn't bother him, but being trapped inside a metal capsule with no way to get out made things far, far worse. Weren't they going to crash? Luckily not, the capsule goes so high but not too high, and they end up orbiting the moon instead.

For a brief moment, Eley forgets the way his stomach seems to be trying to evacuate his body and realises that this is the highest he's ever been... this was a taste of space?]
spohkh: Epic pose is epic (Poser)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-10-31 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Spock can't really see Eley's reactions due to the harness around his shoulders, so he's merely taking everything in like he usually does...

...with separated interest.
He analyzes the stars (that aren't real), calculating the speeds and arcs of the ride as he mutters one word.]

Fascinating.

[After about four minutes, the ride starts to slow, coming back to its starting position.]
winds_voice: (Lost)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-10-31 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's hard to notice that anything's particularly wrong with Eley as the ride comes to a stop and they're released from their harnesses.

When he tries to stand however, the shock of adrenaline kicks in and the Spirit discovers that he can't stop shaking. In fact he doesn't walk so much as stagger away from the Orbiter, trying to get free of the crowds and ever aware that there are uneasy, uncomfortable feelings gripping him in his stomach.]

...I do not feel well.

[He manages to utter.]
spohkh: (concerned)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-11-01 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Spock's brows furrowed in concern as he gently lead Eley away from the ride.]

Are you able to list your symptoms? In what way do you not feel well?
[There were so many things that could have gone wrong, and Spock just wants to help his friend.]
winds_voice: (Closed Off)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-11-01 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
[How does he feel? How to describe it... Honestly, Eley's afraid to talk too much. Or do anything but sit still for that matter. He's thankful that Spock's with him to keep an eye on him and get him some air though.]

My stomach appears to be churning and I cannot stop myself from shaking.

[He'd say that he felt like he was going to throw up if he knew what that even meant.]
spohkh: (Talking)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-11-01 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you feel as though your stomach is going to rebel? [Fancy way of asking if Eley wants to throw up. The Vulcan gingerly rubs the spirit's back, steering him towards a seat.]

Please, rest for a moment. Do you require medical attention?
winds_voice: (Dark Thinking)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-11-03 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Rebel?

[Eley was trying to work out exactly what he meant by that phrase. Of course he didn't believe his stomach to be some kind of separate entity from himself, but a rebellion could be a way of describing how he felt, albeit it a slightly strange way.

He sat down at his friend's request, trying to stop the shaking. He did feel a little better now he was back on solid ground at least.]

I have never... travelled at such speeds before, nor have I ever flown so high. On the one hand it was a rather awe-inspiring experience. But I do not believe me body approved of it.

I am sure it just needs time to... settle.

[Nor did the body's of some of the other passengers judging by the rather unsettling sounds neaby...]
spohkh: (Teacher)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-11-04 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock gently places his hand on the back of Eley's head.]

Place your head between your knees and breath deeply, and evenly. Your condition should improve within minutes.

[He's a professor at heart, he's had to deal with sick cadets before.]
winds_voice: (Voice)

[personal profile] winds_voice 2013-11-05 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
[It seemed like an odd thing to say, but Eley assumed Spock knew what he was talking about, and since he was gently coaxing him into the mentioned position, the Spirit does as he instructed. He leans down and tries to slow his breathing, at the same time attempting to take his mind away from how he was feeling elsewhere in his body.

As time passed, Eley did start to feel more at ease again and the shaking gradually subsided. He leaned back up at that, taking one more deep breath.]

Thank you... I believe I will be all right. Yet I would not like to repeat that experience again.
