Let's say the 29th

[Loki's just passing by the buffet on his way to another round of gambling and spies a familiar face. He'll say hello, why the heck not. Being out of Luceti has put him in a temporarily better mood for several reasons.]

Here for the food or the amusement?

Just the food. I don't really understand the games here.

[Which she's willing to admit. It's money, not survival, so she doesn't really care about revealing ignorance here.

Her plate, though, has a small amount of lots of different things. There are a lot she's never tried, and now might be the best chance she's got.]

The games are fairly simple. It depends on how you are with numbers.

And with reading people. [He grins.]
shenevermisses: (Not impressed)

[personal profile] shenevermisses 2013-10-31 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither are my thing, really.

[She thought she was decent at both, but not enough for any kind of stakes. Reading someone in a fight? Sure. But with a game like these? No.]

Do you like games at all?

[personal profile] shenevermisses 2013-10-31 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really, no.

[Games have a very different meaning to her, even as long as she's been in Luceti. Games are dangerous.]

Any particular reason why?

[Games are the only thing that keeps him from going mad with boredom.]
shenevermisses: (Waiting)

[personal profile] shenevermisses 2013-10-31 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
They're pointless. They serve no purpose except wasting time.

I'd argue it really depends upon the game. Someone always wins.

But time is also something I have in immense quantities, particularly here.
shenevermisses: (Survival)

[personal profile] shenevermisses 2013-10-31 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and "winning" means nothing here most of the time. Even all this. These tokens don't actually do anything, so it's just a waste of time.

Here, it's just winning for the sake of passing the time, tis true.

Elsewhere... well, the stakes can be far higher. I've had to gamble for my own head before.
shenevermisses: (Watching you)

[personal profile] shenevermisses 2013-10-31 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
The "Games" I'm used to are life and death. One winner, one survivor. So I don't tend to like games.

Some might argue high stakes games are the only ones worth playing. [He shrugs. Even if he'd be the one arguing that.] But from what I've heard, in that game you're being used as someone else's pawn, rather than it being your game.
