Small talk. Right. She knew that was a way for a therapist to bridge a gap and find a way in, rationally, but if she was careful there probably wasn't any harm in it.

"...I am. Some of it." She hesitated. "I don't really like crowds anymore, but the parts that aren't as congested are...fun."

"Indeed? What has been your favorite attraction so far?"

"Hmm. The rides have been entertaining. And the games are interesting..."

She shrugged.

"I think I prefer just watching the people." From far away, at least.

"That in itself can be quite the attraction. I'm one for people-watching myself."

She looked down at the girl, and her expression was thoughtful. Small talk was apparently abandoned, for now, for fear of saying the wrong thing.

"How are you a psychologist? You cannot be more than nine or ten years old.

And Alice was forward and quick to answer. "I know it must be a bit puzzling. This is not my first lifetime, and I remember my professional experiences from my previous ones."

"...Right." Eleanor barely believed in magic, and was fairly certain she didn't believe in God anymore, so reincarnation is getting a raised eyebrow and the most skeptical expression she can manage.
