"Of course it is! Otherwise they wouldn't let us do that. We just have to get in line, which... is a little long."

Daisy only needed a glance to notice it. She waited to know the times in which some were finished riding it, the time there is on a single ride, the new ones that came in groups, and the length of the line. She counted with her fingers some equations that were just easy to her.

"With the others here, I think we'll need to wait ten minutes or so to ride it. The dinosaur can have a lot of us, so it could be faster." She turned to Ami. "I don't have my mini-terminal with me, so I don't have games with me, but we can still have fun as we wait in line. Something I really liked doing with my friends in class was making up stories."

"It's ok," Ami says, "We can wait awhile." She's in no hurry today. There isn't any school, or even any homework to be done or tests to study for. She could very easily stay here waiting in line all day. Until it gets dark. Then it would be a little nerve-wracking not to be home instead. But for now it's broad daylight,

"Ten minutes isn't very long," she adds optimistically. "Especially with stories. Do you want to tell one first?"

"Well, then I can start."

She kneels down to sit in front of Ami, tugging her to do the same, almost looking like an older sister in spite of their distinct phenotypes.

"Once upon a time," Daisy began in the same way her mom and Sereia would tell stories, only hesitating for less than a second as she came up with the first things that came to mind. "There was a bear that lived in the woods and made a nice comfortable home in a cave. He would fish by the river with a fishing rod, and go home to his bed and fix his furniture, but he lived all alone."

"One day, he walked too far from the river, and... um..." Daisy thought of something, quickly shuffling her fingers for an idea to come up. "He found a city. When he came across it, people told him he was just a man with too much hair."

"And because of that, he called himself 'Sir Bearington'."

She was supposed to take her turn and jump in now, wasn't she? But Ami wasn't sure she could come up with a better part, and anyway she liked hearing Daisy. So instead, she sat down without any further prompting and listened with wide eyes.

"To tell them he was really a bear?" she guessed. It was a very specific name, after all. Noble-sounding, too. She liked it. "Did they let him come inside after that?"

"They... didn't let him come inside!" She makes up more things on the spot, remembering the odd 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' signs. Not that she ever saw anyone without these, with the exception of the second when she was home and they all wanted to be comfortable. "For that, he went to his cave, and got a suit to pretend he was one of them."

"His disguise was so great, everyone thought he was a person with a lot of hair, and then they let him not just into stores, but parties, running for mayor, even a knight. He became famous when he stopped a robbery!"

"One day, as there was a banquet in his honor, one person discovered him! He screamed 'THAT GUY'S NOT A GUY! HE'S JUST A BEAR!'."

"But he did a lot of good things by then!" Ami argued, as if the story were entirely real and not hypothetical. "They should appreciate that, I think."

It seemed sad to think of the bear-man working hard for everyone to accept him, and yet they were still about to reveal him and- what?

"I hope they all like him anyway when they realize it," she decided.

Daisy just grinned. Not out of gleeful sadism, or at least not in the way Ami would expect. "Do you want to know what happened?"

........

She moved closer to Ami, held her head, and whispered in her ear as if it was a secret even adults should have been forbidden from knowing.

"They didn't believe him."

And stood back. Narrating as normal.

"They thought he was crazy. The people at the party thought he was nutty mouthing off someone that had known for so long, so the guards escorted him out of the dinner. They even put him in a straightjacket and all! One man said: 'We're sorry, so very, very sorry for that man's behavior, Mister Bearington.'"

"And Bearington said: 'ROAWR.', and shrugged."

She giggled.

"Nobody knew he was a bear. But the problem was, sometimes he didn't feel happy that he spent too long pretending he was a human."

Ami couldn't help it at all. She giggled as she heard Daisy's half-whispered words, and her eyes widened for the rest of the story.

She was more thoughtful by the end. "It must be hard to pretend if it's not what you're like," she said. It must be very tiring. "But he was trying not to have to pretend anymore so he could tell them all the truth!"

"Did he get to go back to being a bear?" she wondered aloud.
