[Loki leans back against Kirk companionably. He may be a taken man, but he can still enjoy being around others so long as he keeps it platonic.]

Hm. Something like, "Why bother telling Heimdall what you've seen," I suppose. Or, "Don't tell the Allfather where the axe falls." Which is nonsense, because Odin is a fool.

_{[ He knew his mythology enough to know Odin was the All Father which basically translated to king. He kneaded Loki's shoulder gently, waiting for the next round to pass through the cards. ]}

Who's Heimdall?

_{[ And yes, he probably mangled the pronunciation of the Birfrost guardian's name. ]}

[Loki makes a hissing sound at that. Ugh, Odin. Bloody Odin.] A crown he doesn't deserve in the slightest, ready to pass it to an idiot who likewise doesn't deserve it.

Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost. He has an incredibly large broadsword lodged firmly up his bottom. And he sees everything. [Loki smirks.] Unless one knows how to hide.

Well, I guess his vision can't be that great if he got an "incredibly large broadsword lodged firmly up his bottom". It seems like the sort of thing you should have seen coming and taken care of.

_{[ Yes, he knows it wasn't literal, but you were getting a bit tense there at the mention of Odin and the person he thinks is probably Thor, but he doesn't want to assume... but he will. He kneads Loki's shoulder again, glancing around the table, noting that the only real threat was probably still glasses guy. ]}

Hmm, well, you are clever - or so you keep telling me.

I'm fairly certain he was born that way.

[Loki relaxes a little.] Have I not given you sample evidence in the past?

Sample evidence does not mean the rule. Any scientist would tell you that.

_{[ He patted his shoulder, glancing at the sunglasses again and he grinned. He pressed his hand into Loki's shoulder slightly, hoping the other could read it for quiet encouragement. Loki had this, he knew it.}

And if not, well... he'd kiss it better or something. Or get drinks. One of them would make it better, but he thought drinks as his brain reminded him Loki was a taken man. ]

When there are enough samples, it does. [Loki grumbles, but sounds a bit mollified with the continued friendly touching.

He turns his attention back to demolishing the other players, focusing on the man Kirk pointed out. He gets him engaged in a betting war and ultimately forces him to fold. He gives Kirk a grin for that, while the man in question glares balefully over his sunglasses.]

_{[ Unable to resist, Kirk winks at the sunglasses man and pats Loki's shoulder in congratulations. ]}

Come buy your friend a drink on the wings of your victory.

_{[ Not that they probably actually needed to hand over money, but it was the spirit of the thing that counted, right? ]}

[Loki puts his winnings into a cup. Annoying that he can't just make them vanish.]

Ah, now the reason for your presence is evident. Come along then, you mercenary creature.

_{[ He grinned and followed his friend, ignoring the glares of the other players, especially glasses man. ]}

It has a sort of... mystique to it.

I don't know if mystique is the word I'd use, but as you like.

_{[ he slapped his shoulder and bounded up to the bar, debating what he wanted. Hard alcohol or something less, like a beer? Oh, maybe scotch. He hadn't tasted some of that in awhile. ]}

What do you say? Top of the line scotch? Goes down like silk and burns like fire.

_{[ He grinned at him as their drinks were poured, admiring the warm glint of the amber liquid, rich and pure in the glass. ]}

_{[ He nudged him with his elbow. ]}

_{[ He nodded his head sagely, taking the glass offered him and raising it in thanks to the tender before looking at Loki and keeping it held up. ]}
