Junior Land, Day 4!

[All the rappigs have gathered around him as he is seated cross-legged when Sophie so kindly observes how he is too big to fit in. Peony gives each rappig a pat on the head before looking up to her, though, with a dorky expression. It hadn't surprised him to be called out, but it had surprised him that the voice to do so was somewhat familiar. That young girl who didn't want to go to school, he recalled.]

Oh? Hahaha. I've been told that sometimes since I always did grow faster than the other kids, but no matter how old you get you're never too old to love animals. Wouldn't you say?

You wouldn't happen to be up for a super-late tag on the costume ball thread, would you?

[She watches him, her head tilted to one side.]

I guess.

[She can't really see anything wrong with that logic.]

psh, there's no such thing as late. go for it!

[He nods, happy that she agrees, and then carefully scoops up a rappig to hold up facing Sophie.]

So, have you come to see the rappigs? Adorable, aren't they? [Though sadly not his.]

Excellent! I will do so...soon.

[Sophie takes in the creature in front of her, then raises a finger to gently, experimentally poke its snout.]

That's a rappig?

[Upon having its snout poked, the rappig snorts and sniffs at the air. It isn't long before it starts wiggling to try to get free of Peony's grasp so he sets it down and watches it go up to Sophie. Rappigs seemed to be able sense who they could make friends with, so perhaps this is why it is curious about Sophie.]

Mmhm. It's a species of beast from my world. One of the less scary ones, that is. And by the looks of it, she likes you.

[Sophie giggles when the rappig snorts on her finger, and when Peony sets her down, well--sorry, but you're not remotely the most interesting being present anymore.

She starts petting the rappig, and then does so with more enthusiasm once she discovers just how soft the fur is.

She doesn't even bother to look up at Peony to ask:] What's her name?

[If the rappig could talk, right about now it would tell Sophie to give it belly rubs, but since it can't, it rolls on its back for more.

Peony smiles at how adorable the sight is, and shrugs at the question.]

Well, I'm not sure if she has one. So I guess we'll have to come up with one! Any ideas?

[Sophie is a smart kid. Even if she's never met any rappigs before now, she can figure out what to do here. Belly rubs ahoy!

She spends a moment thinking about this important question before giving her answer:] Freckles.

[Because there are dots on her fur and some of them are kind of small, so it totally works, all right?]

[Peony sees a bit of himself in Sophie when she puts on that thoughtful face to pick a name, so he smiles to himself and waits. And when he hears what she comes up with, he gives a thumbs up in approval.]

So, we've decided on Freckles? I like it.

[That gets an unusually large smile from Sophie. This guy has good taste--she needs to find a nickname for him, too.

She looks back down at the rappig and rubs her belly some more.] Freckles. You're Freckles.

[Freckles starts rolling back and forth on its sides, much like a pig rolling in mud, but only to get the most of the belly rubs its given. It snuffles with happiness.

For the moment, Peony just continues watching, though he does start to give the other rappigs some attention again.]

[After a minute or two, Sophie finally looks away from Freckles and back over to the blond guy.]

Do they got names? [Meaning the other rappigs.]

[It's enough in that minute or more for Peony to become a big bubble of an animal enthusiast toward the other rappigs, but he really does love them all. Thus it takes him a second or three to tear his attention from them again.]

Huh... oh, I haven't decided on them all yet. This one [he points to a stern looking rappig] looks like a Glenn, though. Want to help me name again?

Okay! [She is totally down with this.

Looking around to find one now...hmm.... There's one that's smaller than the others. She points at it.]
